My son last week, on the way for a job interview at Binny's for Wine Specialist (he is a certified sommelier , lost his job because restaurant closed), was hit by uninsured truck running the stop sign at about 40mph.
My son is OK thanks to all the safety systems working fabulously, even in the"lowly" GLA250.
Some bruising from the airbags and anger for a lost opportunity (they hired someone else).
Be careful out there, enjoy every moment, we have no idea when it may be over for us, don't try to save $$ by driving a daily beater, your life and your health is more important then a few more bucks in your savings.
2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
So happy to hear that your son was not badly injured. Yes. I so believe in modern safety systems. Just look at those photos! The car did exactly what it was supposed to do, crumpling up front, with the passenger compartment looking untouched.

What's amazing is the fact that all doors open easily, no different then before the hit.
I remember a Toyota Camry recently, in much less severe accident and the passenger cabin had the floor and roof buckled, all doors had to be cut to open.
German cars may be less reliable but when the push comes to shove, I'd rather be in the cheapest Mercedes vs top of the line Toyota..

Our sympathies go out to you and your son. I hope that your son has good insurance, including uninsured motorist coverage.
Thank God your son is safe and the car did in fact perform as it was designed. Amazing how much more safe these cars have become. Cars can be replaced, we can't.
i've always said these cars will give their life to save yours. i said that 30yrs ago; i say it today. and your son proves it once again. i'm chuffed to be able to say that today. aside - he'll find a better job than binny's. not meant to be apparently.

OH... MY...G**. Wow, that is a really scary picture. I'm so glad you posted it. If friends are looking at used Camrys or Corollas or whatever, I'll remember what you wrote and let them know. Man, there by the grace of god go I. That could have been any of us, at any time, and the results may not have been as good as they were for your son. Just, wow.
