Dune Silver, what do you all think?

Looking at a Dune Silver Benz tomorrow, what does everyone think of the Color? I kinda like it, it's different on the S class.

In the '90s, it was called Smoke Silver on the W140. Then in the 2000's it was called Desert Silver on the W220. I think it disappeared with the W221 and W222, so maybe they think it's time to try it out again in the sun belt? Your only options for a light car were silver and white before this I guess.

If you like it, you should get it. It will certainly be a W222 color that you will not see very often. 99% are shades of black, gray or white. At least this is something different.

I would jump on that. I had a 1991 350SDL that color and loved it.

Ya, I really have thought about it a lot. The car has 11K miles on it. I'm really leaning towards a new one since it looks like I may be able to get the new one only around 10K more than the used 2019. This will probably be my last S class. The 2021 and up model is not going to work for me. The new one I'm working at getting is Diamond white with silk beige int. 2020 model. Cant go wrong, probably a color I'll never get tired of.

I like it, it's elegant. Remember it well in the 90's, somewhat popular. Called it champagne. Always nice to see an S that isn't grey, black or white.

It really is elegant, very nice color. I still have not ruled that one out yet if this deal on the Diamond white one falls though.

Wow tougher trying to work a deal on a new one than I thought, I guess the good ole days are gone. I may have to think about a used 2019 or just scrap the idea for now. I guess prices will fall once the 2021's are out. Might be a bad time right now to be buying a S class. I think the dealers are trying to keep their stock with Xmas coming and all.

I always check carfax but I really don't go by it as the end all. I always put the car up on a lift and check it out carefully. A lot of time carfax misses things like accidents. It all depends on how they were reported. Then on the hand just because a car has been in accident it may have been minor like a tap to the bumper and the car needs a bumper cover and painted. That was the case with the current 2017 I'm driving now. It is reported as being rear ended on carfax but it was very minor and I cant tell anything is wrong with the car except one tiny bubble on the bumper paint job from 2017. Poor guy that owned the car before me had the accident when the car was only 3 months old. These dealers are not calling me back, lol. I guess they are not taking my offers seriously. Was trying to get a new one. Sad they don't even counter offer, thats the number one rule in business at least according to warren buffet. Sometimes people will bite for the counter offer, but instead they just don't call back. Then again this is Florida lol. Oh well. I'm more than happy with my 2017 even if things don't fall into place. It might be time for apple car play upgrade kit. I was offering my car at 50K and 50K cash for the new car with a sticker of 120K. My 2017 has only 28K miles on it and is near perfect. Sounds reasonable to me, then again in these Covid days of doom who knows. I think the dealers are worried they may run out of new car S560 inventory until the 2021's hit their dealerships next April. They have to weigh everything out. Probably a bad time to be in the market for a new S class right now from everything I'm seeing. I'm gonna check up on the used 2019 Dune Silver car later today, it may have even been sold already.

that's awful! run away! run away! and you are all wrong on the various colours. that^ hideous dune silver (paint code 206) is not a renaming of previous years' colours.
smoke silver was beautiful - had more grey in it. i had it on a 91 560sel. paint code 702.
desert silver (paint code 693) was meh.
champagne (paint code 473) was ok.
all are easy to keep clean. but - op - that dune silver is not a good thing.

I do have really mixed feelings about it. I almost cant see myself in a car that color. Now the Lunar Blue of the current 2017 I'm driving that is a really beautiful color. My 2017 just hit 28K miles so still really low miles. I think I might just keep on driving it. From everything I'm seeing right now it is a real hassle in buying a car at this time. I wasted a ton of time today on the phone talking with a salesman about a diamond white new 2020 and I couldn't for the life of me even get what their bottom line of what the new car was selling for as to how much off MSRP they could do? Fairly simple question. He kept telling me what do you want to pay. I kept telling him 100 grand. The sticker was 122K. Then when he had me take pictures of my car and only offered me 45K that was the last straw. He started trying to tell me what I was going to do, never seen anything like it. I hung up on him and he kept trying to call back so I blocked his cell phone number and blocked the dealerships main number, I sure hope I never go through that again. I simply won't tolerate that kind of thing. I'll drive this 2017 till the wheels fall off the car. Guys like that drive customers away for good. Never ever again will I deal with that dealership, I won't say what dealer it is as I don't want any trouble but it was unreal.

Earlier this year, we tried trading a '16 E400 Coupe for a CPO '14 S550 at the local dealer, and while they actually had a good price on the S550, they were only offering 21K for the E. We took the E to CarMax, and they offered $25K. Obviously, we sold it to them...just saying. Of course, you have to pay sales tax on the full amount of the new car, but you can do the math and decide if you are ahead or not.

Glad there's an additional color choice! I've not seen this one in person but it seems nice.

2014 s63 AMG.
Car Fax is definitely something to check ,but in states like Missouri if any damage is over 500 dollars and police called it goes on car fax report. So it could just be a grill broken and the car is branded as bad. So I would always dig Into what happen to car.

If there is anyway you can wait for bit might want to do that. Thats kinda my plan at this point although my chances of getting a brand new 2020 will be lower as time goes by, probably within a few months most of them will be sold out so might looking for a decent used 2020 next summer or something like that. I really wish the dealers would just be honest and tell the truth that they have very little wiggle room right now as they are trying to preserve their current inventory and get top dollar. Then again I guess why would they be telling customers that I guess maybe with the covid thing they did not get enough 2020's produced. I think if I were to get a 2020 I'd look for one with a production date before March of this year, with the Covid shutdown of the plants in Germany who knows maybe the quality was not as good with the ones produced between April and June. As far as I know the last 2020's were produced at the end of June.

Felt like I just got swallowed up by a shark looking at those pictures, lol. While we are on the subject of colors. How about this color Ruby Black? I actually kinda like it. I'm sure most people do not like it though. A color like this might be a tough sale.
