Wolfman - I keep thinking that they are going to screens to save cost. You have said otherwise. Why is that true?
These are reasonably large (12.3" & 12.8") custom OLED screens, the instrument cluster is a 3D panel. That's actually a very expensive setup as low-volume OLED screens will be a multiple of the cheaper standard LED screens in the W222. Mercedes switchgear on the other hand is rather cheap wether the actual switch caps are metal or plastic. Think tens of Dollars for switch clusters vs several hundreds for screen assemblies. Also they actually beefed up the processor performance to make MBUX2 fast.
That is a handsome car. But I find a lot of what BMW is churning out right now to be downright ugly....like the new grille on the 4 series... My goodness. Remember the E46 ? What a handsome car that was.
100% agree. Sometimes I wonder what people are are thinking they make these design changes. I believe the focus is to create memorable design features, even if polarizing. Standout in any way possible You might not believe it but the buck tooth design is starting to have a real following...
In regards to the M8, I really like the car. Not without faults but very comfortable, wicked fast and quite nice inside (individual leather interior) and it has big hips It's the widest car BMW makes so it gives it a proper stance...

For one thing I think the screens are providing functionality that would require a lot more switches. Think about all of the menus that you will be going through to set different things. Imagine if there were switches or dials for each one.

One good thing about the new MBUX2 is the lack of menus. No more layers...
That said, it is a big departure from the W222 and I am looking forward to seeing the car in the flesh. No better way to judge how the car looks and feels...
The exterior changes from W222 to W223 are mild. For other manufacturers, it could be seen as a facelift/LCI. Both cars are handsome, both have a few questionable design elements. To copy Tesla's retracting door handles is unnecessary, cheap, and flat-out mimickry.
The interior of the W223 has some gorgeous elements, but I find the overall style of the W222 to be superior. Mainly, I do not like the large central touchscreen and I really do love the W222's dual screen setup. The W223 screen looks, like so many other cars, tacked on. Someone else mentioned that the vents are not centered with the touchscreen and now I can't stop seeing that. I also agree that the vents (in shape and size) do not go with the car. I am not sure why they changed from the W222's style.
Overall, I am confident the W223 is a better car than the W222. But I would agree that some styling elements seem like a step backwards. I wonder if W221 owners felt this way when the W222 came out.
Haha. This is what most people see (sorry for the less than perfect pics and derailing the thread)
Car is beautiful but have to say my S63 Coupe isn't a dog next to it. Last of the last right here.
Getting back to the original topic, I have to say the front seats in the new car are not even close to being as comfortable as my S560 were. To the point where I might sell the car because of it.
And if you go with the 20's think again. The ride is just plain harsh if the roads you drive on are less than perfect.
What’s wrong with the seats? They are very comfortable to me. Love the seats.
Agree, I actually found them to be an upgrade from the W222, they feel more soft/plush. Had no issues in them when I had the boss’ S580 for a long road trip, ride comfort was also pretty similar to the last W222 I drove.
I legit wrote to MB hq and Gorden Wagener and asked if the boys over at Kia or Hyundai coup d’etat’ed their asses in Sindelfingen when I first saw leaked pictures. As if the surgeon mangled my first born son’s circumcision or something. I was so sick that they’d butcher the beauty of the S to some bland box that blends in to the rest of the Karen’s of the world. I guess it’s perfect since it is reminiscent of the current times…SAD
Honestly though, just makes me
love my W222 that much more. This car has been a rock for me. Unlike past MBz from my 99 CL600 and S500’s to my 03 CL500, this thing even at 90kmi on 22” wheels, rides like butter tried and true straight as an arrow. Still feels like a thoroughbred running down the stretch in Saratoga.
I prefer W222 over W223 , I just can't like W223 looks as well interior . I would like to see touch pad no matter how unnecessary it was for some drivers .Gauge cluster is awful too .It looks like they forgot to fit a cover over it ,it looks barren and unfinished too
im aghast. i cannot believe the murder that has been done to my beloved s550. how could this be possible? from 1991 it was epic then from 2011 the design team got body snatched. the w221 was the last benz that had the aura of benz. im so sad. i will never ever ever puchase the trash that came after. wow. the most ridiculous part is how no sinlge review is honest. how can you honestly review these cars, monstrous in their very essence and not tell it how it seems? who cares about all the technology? they have just successfully made me opt for range rover. thats it. im done. the last two versions w222 and w223 are the dumb and bumber or the ugly and ugliest of the entire history of mercedes. please can somebody explain why this is happening? the w222 exterior looks like it was designed by 1999 honda prelude team and the interior wasnt too bad. but the w223 has an even more bland exterior, everything that was aggresive and exciting about the w221 has now been thorughly diluted, no more haunches, no more sleek nose, it copied bmw into the biggest grille biggest clown like face ever. omg this is a disaster. guys, when i got my s550 i traded in bmw 750li and every single lady asked me, where is your bmw? they hated even my w221, but i like it. the bmw interior was too plasticky and cheap, anyway. every since then bmw has spiralled downward. every model uglier than the next and i thought benz would never go that route. the interior of this new benz looks like a tesla joke. and the tesla interior is the worst peice of unimagibnative crap this side of the universe. oh lord can we have answers. im probably gonna buy the w222 for cheap and try to maintain it for as long as i can. its bad but it still retains some elements that i love. but this new one. is GARBAGE and nobody seems to put how we feel in print. not a single review. im in shock

LOL, so ridiculous. And the 2011 refresh of the W221? Way better than the pre refresh...
Some people just have to pretend the car they have is the best one that was ever designed. Go out and buy a new $130,000 Range Rover and post some pics. We'll wait lol
