No map updates on 2018 222

Strange had my car at the dealer and had asked them to update my nav. When I picked up the car dealer said there are no updates available. I currently have 2018-2019 version 13. This does not sound right there should be a 2020 at this point for this car. There a 2020 on my auto updated 2019 e450 wagon. Service writer said every car is different. I think maybe the maps have never been updated on my s560. Anyone have 2020 update on a 2018 S560? I just think they didn’t want to take the time to do it especially where it was gonna be no charge.

I just purchased my MY18 S560 end of October, and asked dealer to update Nav and they told me the same thing. That it had the current version even though when i looked, it was the 2018/19 version on it.

I went to mbnavupdate.com and purchased the USB stick update for 2021/21 for $150 and updated myself. I used them last year on my MY15 S550 when i had the car and same process. Paid $150 for USB drive, and when arrived, called the company and they give you the access key over phone to initiate the download.

now i will say, when i did the download for my 2018, it took a little over an hour. Not sure if the update was that big causing it to take that long. My 2015 update, when i did it last year, took about 25 minutes......

if you are still under the 3 years of free updates, I would demand the Dealer to do it, since it is free. My car was past the 3 years as it’s in service date was Sep 2017, when i purchased it off of lease......

hope this helps....

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
After pushing the nav button and being on the nav screen I believe it's options on the right and it's down at the bottom of the screen that lists the year and version of the map.

My car is still under the free update window until Dec 27th in a couple of weeks. I guess I'm not going to bother. The Tom Tom Nav traffic expires that date also and theres no way to update that either from what I've read in a couple of other threads so I guess I'll just use Waze and Google Maps. I don't think the service writer at the dealer is just saying there's no way to update I think it is for real which is strange on a three year old car but really does not surprise especially with there being no solution for the Tom Tom Traffic Subscription which when it ends it ends. Seems like the problem stems from MB itself. That sure is one advantage of the 2019 and up models as they had over the air nav update. Although even those cars will have no Nav Traffic after they reach over 3 years old unless MB comes up with some solution. My 2019 E450 Wagon just does Nav updates automatically. Seems like MB just kinda gave up on support with the older models and even the newer models as far as Nav Traffic is concerned. Oh well. At least I've got the 3D audio Lol. cant have it all I guess. haha.

I have the same version MB CES mentioned. Payed $150 for the USB stick, and downloaded myself from the site i mentioned in an earlier response to this thread.

My 2018 was past its 3 years of free upgrades when i got the car as it was in serviced in Oct 2017.

I'm gonna see if I can get that done at another dealer before my 3 years runs out, does not make sense the dealer I went to said there were no updates on my car with the original 2018 maps that came with the car.

I forgot to ask, did the map update make that much of visible difference? You'd think for taking an hour there must have been quite a bit of new data and I'd think you must have noticed some positive difference vs the original 2018 maps, at least the new road changes should now be there. I actually sent the Service Manager at the dealer I was using a email today. My 3 years of free map updates expires on Sunday Dec 27 so no way now it's gonna be done within the three years, the map version I have is 2018 Version 13. I notice on my 2019 E450 Wagon which automatically updates over the air is 2020 Version 19 so thats 6 full versions ahead of my 2018 S560. This dealer is really insulting my intelligence in telling me when they entered in the VIN number there are no current updates available for my S560. On top of that TomTom nav live traffic also expires on Dec 27 and I know there is nothing they can do about that as that is Mercedes fault for not having anything to replace it with. The other issue was I have the tire and wheel package which there again expires Dec 27 and I've tried to have them fix a ding on the right front wheel twice now and they gave me excuses like the wheel guy was not there the 2 days they had the car and then told me to come back last Monday and I made the trip for nothing as they only had one guy in the garage, everyone else was out sick. So now I'm stuck probably paying out of pocket for both the nav update and the wheel repair when I did have coverage for it and gave them plenty of chances to do both. Mercedes is starting to give me a really bad feeling, or at least this dealer.

Cant really tell as I haven’t been much anywhere. There were some new roads in my area that was built since 2018, and they display on my screen now, as they didn’t prior to update.

as for dealer, I would go to another one, or call MB Corporate and tell them you have a bent rim, and the dealer has been unable to schedule you to come in for repair, so 27 December should not be held against you for an issue the dealer is aware about but have not fixed yet.

I don’t know what to tell you about the update. Dealer told me same thing when i bought my car, but as i stated before, i purchased it online and downloaded myself since i was out of the 3 year coverage anyway...

Thanks for the quick response, the rim is actually just scraped on the outside from a curb, not really bad but noticeable. I'm hoping maybe this dealer will take care of this stuff as in general I've had pretty good luck with them, but these two things for whatever reason they don't seem to want to do. Hopefully the email to the manager will get them going on it, he seems like a pretty good guy. It goes without saying that the maps shoulda been updated, things can change a lot with the roads in 3 years, they shouldn't be leaving people without updates who payed for this service for 3 years when they bought the cars, it's just not right. Plus good money was paid for the tire and wheel package too.
