The Gasoline smell persists in my new to me 2018 S560

Car is going back to the dealer on Monday. Got a strong gasoline odor in the garage after I drive the car. They checked it at the dealer last week and could not find anything. But it is definitely there and very concerning. This time they really need to expose the intake and look at the injectors and maybe do a fuel system leak down test and maybe check out the Evap system. I'm thinking it's a slight leak in one of the injector O rings. If I turn the ignition on for a minute or so without starting the engine thats when I really notice it, stinks up the whole house, not good. When I take the car in Monday and it's in the receiving area thats what I'll do is turn the ignition on a couple times without the engine running to produce the smell and call the service writer out to let him take a sniff of the engine compartment, that way they can't deny it. I want it fixed.

The other issue is I had the windows tinted and even wrote down including windshield. I notice they just did the tinting on the side windows and the rear window not on the front window. It was written down on the sheet I gave to the service writer. Plus need to get a scrape on the pass front wheel fixed via the tire and wheel package that they didn't fix last week when the car was in there for whatever reason. This car is getting to be a real project. Really bothers me too that they are saying no map updates available when it looks like this map version I have is what came with the car in 2018, makes no sense, there's a 2020 version for my E450 wagon. Starting to loose confidence in Mercedes. The in car internet and WiFi is real hit or miss too, it works like only half the time. I kinda knew that would be a issue though as MB did not switch to the good ATT System until 2019 and my car is a 2018, I will say it is better than the 2017 as far as internet goes. They did improve it a little bit.

In many places having the windshield tinted is against the law.

I'm getting to where driving at night is already a struggle for me, so tinting the front windows is certainly something I would never do.

Maybe I better not do the windshield. I could swear my windshield was done in my wagon, I'll have to look at that again in the sunlight. I do have the upper windshield strip across the top of the windshield on the wagon, I'm thinking maybe I shoulda had them do that too on the S560. I was driving directly into the Sun Yesterday morning along I75 South heading to a car show in Punta Gorda and the Sun was really bothering me. The main thing though I just hope they can find where that Gasoline smell is coming from. I mainly notice it if I leave the Ignition in the on position without the engine running. I guess the fuel pump must build up pressure then even more so than when it's running and it leaks the worst then. I guess probably more than likely a fuel injector O ring leaking and it will probably only get worse. The dealer really needs to take all the top stuff off the motor (air filter boxes etc) to expose the injector banks and get a real good look at that area I'd say. Alternatively maybe theres a way to hook a gauge up to the fuel rails on each side and do a leak down test. Something is going on with this car. I just don't want to end up on the side of the road with a engine fire.

My car does have it on the front windshield but only at the top 6 inches or so.

Had an appointment today at the dealer for the gas smell and the wheel ding fix but most people in the shop were out sick so they had to cancel it. Gonna give it another week and hope the strong gas smell does not come back, with the wheel fix, my tire and wheel package expires the day before my appointment even though this was the 3rd time I'd tried to get it fix. The first couple times I had it listed but I guess they forgot. I try to give everyone as much leeway as possible as these are tough times we are going though, it's gotta be a nightmare trying to manage a business.

I kinda wish I'd just had the strip across the top of the windshield done. I got cancelled out of my appt today, only one worker showed up in the garage so maybe I'll have them do that strip next monday although If don't by some chance smell the gasoline smell i've been noticing with the car I might just cancel that one and let someone else have the spot who is in a more desperate situation. They are gonna get all backed up with all these workers being out sick. I'm hopeful the gasoline smell will just go away, the past couple days have not noticed it, I'm starting to think it mainly happens when the fuel tank is low, although that does not make sense either because if it were a problem with the EVAP system you'd think I'd be getting a check engine light for a leak in either the fuel fill area or hoses or purge valve but no check engine lights, strange.

Thanks, it's 28 percent VLT side front windows and 15 percent VLT on the rear side windows and rear window, that is the max allowable tint in Florida. I was wrong about the Windshield it should not be tinted, it is illegal in Florida with the exception of a 4 inch darker strip at 28 percent VLT on the top of the windshield not in the field of vision. It would be dangerous having full tint on a windshield at night time. Just put some new floor Mats in the car that I got on eBay for $149.00. They are beige looks so much better than the brown ones. That was a deal for OEM Mercedes Floor Mats for that price.

Looks great!

They make really low tint films for windshields. AirBlue 80 is 80%, and most films come in a 70% that they also use.
