So anyone know what this green light is for in front of the mirror
Seems like it’s on a lot whether the car is locked or unlocked. Never had this light on any of my other S class benzs before this 2018. I started out the title of this thread with “so” for the benefit of hyper lol.

Hmm, my car doesn't have Night Vision, but it appears to have that same cutout in the windshield where the green light is and there appears to be a some sort of module behind it. Wonder if the hardware modules are installed in all cars for simplicity?
Not sure, strange the way though it's on sometimes and off other times. If it has to be there I'd rather have it be a red light than a green light. Some thieves might think the car is more easy to break into because the green light is light and that maybe the alarm is not activated or something. I don't see anyway of turning it off.
Strange I thought thats what the lens was I see just to the right of the Distronic shield on the right, I guess not. Not real crazy about that green light, strange how it is on so much of the time.

Wow, that is a large camera. I guess that shouldn't surprise me, given how excellent the image quality is. The 360 camera in my wife's Pacfica is horrible by comparison.
There are five parts to the night vision system. Each headlight has an infrared emitter, which is only active when the car is moving forward and the system is on. It illuminates the scene ahead with infrared light. The reflected infrared light is sensed by the sensor located near the center of the grill. The camera next to the mirror (colored green in the image provided by the OP) is a black and white camera of the same forward scene. The on-board computer merges both images to form the night vision display on the dash.
