Looking To Buy A 2015 Mercedes S550
Hello! I am new to the forum and very excited to be here.
I am looking to buy a 2015 S550. Are there any differences in size or shape between the 2015 model and newer W222 models (such as the 2018, etc)?
Please let me know if there is something I should look out for feature wise or anything else.
Sorry for so many questions, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for your time and input.

2020 S560 4Matic
The car had a substantial refresh in 2018. Front end was new, new taillights and rear bumper, new steering wheel, new infotainment and new gauge displays, and an all new engine. 2017 saw a new 9 speed transmission, that transmission was carried forward for use with the new engine in 2018.

Most people cannot tell the difference between a 2014 and a 2021 model at this point. The facelift was nice but you do pay a premium for a newer car. I have a 2015 4Matic that is absolutely amazing. They are very reliable cars and fun to drive. You want to find one that has the maintenance done and has records. Tough to find through a dealer as they throw all of that stuff out when they buy the car for resale. Other than that, go drive a bunch of them and figure out what features you want.

I have a 2015 s550 that I plan to sell or trad in. I have 105,000 miles as I drive 400 miles to visit my 103 year old mother every weekend. I have most options and my car has always been in a garage. Does anyone have any idea as to what my car is worth?

Hold out for the colors and options you want. Condition is everything! I bought a 2017 as it has the nine speed instead of the 7 speed. IMHO I am not a fan of the 4.0 in the 2018, and forget the 3.0 six cylinder, while they are cheap they have no zip!. I like the 4.7 better, feels better to drive around town at low speeds, more punch at bottom end.

Consider a 2017 for the new transmission. And when you finally find one equipped how you want it, jump on it. My experience is that well-equipped cars are very, very rare.

Lots of resources out there. Here's a few, the auto brochure, link to motortrend, change the year in the URL and select the features tab to see the options for that year, use a vin decoder to see the options on a particular car, get a copy of the EPC/WIS on eBay to get the datacard if you get locked out after decoding too many vin numbers. EPC/WIS takes longer to start up though and a little complicated to use. Those are the parts lookup/datacard and repair manuals that the dealers use.

Run it through the vin decoder I mentioned earlier. Should have an option for keyless go. If the button is just missing, you can pick one up on eBay for around $8-$10.

I suggest you define a set of features you absolutely want/need and hold out until you find a car that fits those needs. Do not settle as it’s a car you will, hopefully, keep and enjoy for a long time. Also, hold out for as new a model year as possible, MBZ updates and improve on their cars incrementally or significantly, but they do, and the newer the better.
Enjoy the journey.
Enjoy the journey.

Somehow my Keylss Go button was missing when I went to pick it up from service. It was after hours when I picked it up so the keys were at the sales managers desk. I mentioned the missing button, he opened his desk drawer where he had a bag of them. Tossed it to me and I was on my way.

I just got my car in January and spent almost a year getting my arms around the purchase process. I totally agree with the advice to decide what colors and options you want and keep looking until you find the combination you really want. High-spec cars carry a pretty big premium, so as tempting as they are, you might consider how likely you really are to use that rear entertainment system, refrigerator, etc.
The one option I would absolutely insist on is the surround-view camera, as this is extremely helpful in close manuevers. An S is a big car and I cannot imagine driving it without the camera or a spotter outside telling me how close I am to obstacles!
