Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Owners
I’ve read mix reviews here about the PS 4S’s -- from “as noisy as RFs” to “very quiet.”
Currently at 10k miles & ready to dump the PZero RFs. Smooth & quiet is the priority. Don’t really care about tread life. Will be keeping the AMG 20’ wheels.
Based on my research here, these are my top choices:
1. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (275’s are on backorder; could be months per Tire Rack; don’t want to wait)
2. General G-Max AS-05 (Dave is the only data point here & the 245’s are on back order for a month, could be longer, not sure I want to wait)
3. (??) Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (almost bought these today but holding off for more input)
Hoping to hear from current & prior W222 PS 4S owners with your impressions.

I have MP4S' on my W204 C63. They are not noisy at all. Have them on a Hellcat Charger too. No issues. The MP Super Sports are noisy, but the MP4S' are not. At least in my experience.

I had PS4S's on my S and they did not last long. They were decently quiet (About as quiet was my current Continentals DW06). Ride quality was about the same too. Performance was good, though for the price, I don't think it was worth it.

I've replaced three sets of run flats on three separate cars with Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack tire. I've been completely satisfied with the ride, handling and performance of these tires.
Consumer Reports recap below:
Highs
Exceptionally quiet. Very good snow traction and hydroplaning resistance, and low rolling resistance.
Lows
No shortcomings.

These are what I just put on my '11 Lexus LS460 and couldn't be happier with them. Very quiet and smooth riding. They come as std. equip. on the new base model Vettes. Also, 45k mile warranty thru Costco.

I would say quiet is relative. Depends on what you compare it to. I had the P Zero non-RF for a while on a previous car. Don't know about the RF, but at least the non-RF is known to get very noisy at about the half wear point. The PS4S is whisper quiet compared to the P Zero. However, both the P Zero and the PS4S are ultra high performance tires, so being quiet isn't the top priority. Also, depends on the road surface. Here in Cali, our highways are mostly paved with rubberized asphalt, which among other things reduces road noise. Other surfaces such as concrete etc., can be very noisy. Whenever I drive on an older stretch that hasn't been repaved using rubberized asphalt, the noise level can increase quite drastically, but the P Zero was outright unpleasant on those same stretches. If you want quiet, though, you need to be looking at touring tires.

My favorite too had them on my 97' Q45 on 19" rims and they were by far the best tires I ran, I had Yoko's (not great), Bridgestones (good) and the Michelin's were the best. Overall I feel Michelin and Bridgestone are best choice that you do a pay a little more for but usually worth it.

I've got the Conti DWS06's on an E400. When new, they were nice and quiet. Now, at about 18K miles, they sound like the FEDEX truck that seems to be everywhere. They are NOISY, and I can't wait to get them off the car. I am thinking of trying the Michelin Pilot AS4's.
On my old Lexus LS430, I ran Dunlop SP5000's. They were good tires, quiet, but not for snow. I also don't think they are available in the sizes we need for MB autos.

Started with the Michelin PS3 (from factory) on my first S63 (MY16), but they are very, very noisy (especially when cold, and then going through corners at low speeds.....).
When new ones were needed, I got the PS4S and what an improvement! Much better steering, much less noise, and lasted (more then) 40K kilometers.
On my MY19, i got PS4S from the start, and also great combo imho. New ones after (little over) 40K kilometers again.
My other car had Continental SC6, but now also PS4S, also there noticable improvement in driving and noise.

Michelin tires wear faster than any other tire I have owned. If you have car with staggered rims cut that low miles in 1/2. Honestly I think most buy them for the name and price as when you buy a 100k car the mindset is to put the best on. Funny everybody in tire business swears by General tires that from what I gather are made my Continental?
I like Continental DW06 but if I could get over the name would try the General tires.

- Thank you for the input
- Although on back order for 60 to 90 days, ordered the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+
- PS4S: I’m in the Midwest where temps fall below zero a few days a year with many days in the teens; wanted to avoid the risks of cold-weather compound cracking; it’d probably never happen but I’d be thinking about it
- Generals: not enough long term usage info from other MB W222 owners & the lower speed rating was a mild concern

So I went ahead and bought the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s for my 19" rims and am really happy, especially over the RF tires. What PSI are people using that they like best...

PFL205.064 with M276.823 (Oil pump solenoid defeated)
Try the pressures listed on the fuel door as the baseline and then adjust according to your preferences such as ride comfort vs sporty handling do this when tires are cold/not driven overnight.
