HUD polarization 180 out with polarized sunglasses

I just got a new windshield on my 2016 S63 and it is HUD 180 degrees out. My last S63 and the previous windshield worked fine. My local MB dealer says that's the way it is.
What say the world?
TIA,
Vince

On my MY2018 560 I have to use non polarised sunglasses, otherwise the HUD is barely visible.

HUDs do not work with polarized sunglasses period. Polarized sunglasses filter out horizontal reflections, which is all the glare and reflections that come off the windshield. The HUD image is also just a reflection/glare of the windshield being reflected horizontally as well. There's no way to change that. It's how light reflects off a surface, and the whole point of polarized sunglasses is to filter out these reflections, because they are generally undesired. This is the main reason why I skip HUDs. I prefer polarized sunglasses here in California living by the ocean with all the sun reflecting off the water. I'm not gonna change my sunglasses to see a HUD. It's a fundamentally flawed technology in my opinion. If the inside of your windshield is dirty, then you may see more of the HUD, because the reflected light gets scattered by the dirt. I also don't really like something floating in my line of sight. I find it annoying, which is partly why I wear polarized sunglasses to get rid of all the glare and reflections of the dash in the windshield.

So strange that my first two windshields were polarized the right way and the new one and all of yours are 180 out!

Something else must be going on. The polarization of the reflected light from the HUD can't be changed. It's always horizontal to the surface. Can't change physics. Did you change sunglasses perhaps, and your previous ones weren't actually polarized, or they were polarized the wrong way?

Don't know their sunglasses, but the only other thing I can think of as I mentioned above is that your previous glass may have had deposits/dirt on the inside. Over time there's a film that builds on the glass from the gassing out of the plastics etc. If the glass isn't smooth, or there's dirt on it, then some of the light can get reflected vertically and will make it through the polarized sunglasses. Maybe this time, they properly cleaned your glass.

Yep, that would most certainly change the reflective properties. You get light refraction as it travels through the tint film and then into the glass.

I had driven other cars with HUDs while wearing a polarized sunglass ,it never obstructed the view of the gauges while driving .You know you can also set the brightness of the HUD if you like
