Poor 360 view during evening/nigth
Hi S-friends
6 months ago I swapped from W221 S500 to W222 S500 4M 2014 (love it for power and silence ). Of course it has some poor points. One of them are 360 degrees cameras during dark/night. Did you experienced the same that mirror cameras and rear are unusable in dark ?
I set my screen brightness to max, but it doesn't help. Video from mirrors is unreadable - I cannot trust on this.
Few weeks ago I drove Tesla 3 and its cameras over night presented very clear and readable view (like during sunny day).
Are any ideas/patents for S poor cameras reading ? I thinking to add extra LED/UV light source to apply more light ?
Thank you.

I have been advised by Mercedes Benz with respect to my 2015 S550 that the poor night vision on my 360 cameras (acknowledged by my dealer) was within specifications. In effect, I was told to live with poor night vision. I also have a 2015 GL63, which had the same problem, but a software update fixed it 100%. I have to believe MB could also fix this with a software update, but is just not incentivized to do it.

Same here with my 2016. When I first noticed this, I was actually impressed with how the light settings automatically changed depending on the ambient light available to each camera.

My 2016 has great night vision but nobody has better cameras than Tesla, they don't have the best build car quality but stuff like the cameras they are the best.

Be sure to clean the lenses periodically. I had this issue with my front and rear cameras. These are closed when the camera is off (when washing car), so you have to open up and clean by activating camera. A microfiber cloth and Stoner Invisible Glass resolved the issue. No problem with side cameras, which are under mirrors and easily cleaned with regular washing.

One question - should I expect the dealer to do this for free, or are they likely to charge me for it? I am going in for a service anyhow but want to know what others have experienced.
Many thanks -

Normally bulletins are only covered within warranty period however, since bulletin documents a specific production date argue for goodwill repair reason being, software update corrects known production flaw.
