Hello from Ireland .
Hi all just joined from the dark side. Just traded my BMW 7 series yesterday for a 2017 350d AMG line executive Premium model. Will be picking it up on the 6th January. I only had the 7 series for 10 months and just couldn’t warm to it.Previously I have had Jaguars ,Range Rovers etc and had a Mercedes CLK back in 2007. I’m always keen to do things myself in terms of servicing , brakes etc so looking forward to learning as well as helping. Here’s a sneak peek of the car which is dirty as garage owner has been using it, Naturally it will be fully serviced and valeted before collecting it,

Welcome aboard. When it comes to do it yourself projects, Katie has a lot of experience working on her S class but I think she sold it and may not even be on the forum any longer. Konigstiger is our chief advisor when it comes to in depth knowledge of the Mercedes line up. Enjoy the car, you will love it.

Could just be the lighting but it looks like the front passenger door and front fender have been resprayed in a slightly darker color. Might want to check that before buying.

Welcome buddy🤙
Be sure to have the car comprehensively checked before you pull the trigger if you’ve not done so already.
Enjoy the hell out of it when it does get to your hands.

Hi there, I'm from Ireland too.
I've own a 2017 S350d here in Ireland for over 3 years so maybe I can share some of my experiences with you:
* The biggest issue without doubt with my car has been moisture in the headlights which ends up destroying the headlight control units, our damp Irish climate seems to wreak havoc with them. I started another thread on here (https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ad-lights.html) a long time back trying various things ranging from fighting with Mercedes Ireland & Mercedes UK, even reaching out to Mercedes Sindelfingen (The Home of this models production facility). But to no avail no long term solution was offered. Now I just replace the silica gel packs myself every 9 - 12 months and haven't had the issue in over 12 months. I've sealed the control units with silicone to prevent moisture penetrating into the PCB board.
My advice watch your headlights for signs of condensation and act quickly other wise you will be buying new control units at a price of over €250 each.
* Check the door handle LED lights, there are well know to fail on this car. Actually just today I plan to replace the 4th one so all 4 have been replaced now since I owned this car. They turn a purple blueish colour just as they are about to expire. You should test these on your car before picking it up, simply place a dark object (like a coat) over the daylight sensor in the middle of the windscreen and unlock the car and go around and check each handle light. Check the wing mirror puddle lights too.
* Mercedes dealerships in the south are way over priced so I only deal with Mercedes of Belfast now, their parts & labour prices are much cheaper. Ill give you an example. I needed front brake discs and pads replaced. MB Ireland quoted €1250 where as MB Belfast was £630. In end I purchased the parts myself from MB Belfast for £350 where MB Ireland wanted almost €750 for the parts.
* You can buy the Mercedes workshop software from ebay which runs in Virtual Box on windows. This will provide you with the workshop instructions for most repair jobs e.g. Brakes etc.
Hope this helps a little
BTW your car looks like a UK/NI import as it has wheel locknuts, you might want to do UK history check

As it happens I read all your posts on the issues , yes it’s a U.K. import full history etc and 35k miles.Headlights seemed fine on it. It also has a 12 month warranty for peace of mind. Where are you based I’m in Kildare was thinking we could potentially team up to do brake pad changes , oil etc , just a thought ! I was going to use a specialist in Shankill Dublin who has a lot of experience with Mercedes and all the diagnostic equipment etc. I will book the car in with him whilst it’s under warranty to do a full check over.

Beautiful car you have there... it looks strikingly familiar.
Great info provided by sclass350d. It makes me want to change my headlight moisture packs preemptively.

Beautiful spec! Hope you enjoy. These cars are built well and offer an experience like no other. We have a L405 RR and after driving that for weeks, getting back into the S class felt like a whole new world of luxury. As for maintenance, these cars are surprisingly reliable. Basic services are quite easy as well; pads & rotors can be done in an afternoon while an oil change can take less than an hour.

A major flaw that I see is that somebody (I assume a factory worker) put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the dash. You may want to check for a recall for that.
