Shuttering feel making a hard turn?

Hi all, on my 2015 S550 4-Matic, when making a hard, maneuvering-type turn it seems like something is resisting and give a sense of a jerking motion. Hear me out - for those familiar with 4WD vehicles, I can best compare this to when you have 4WD engaged on dry pavement- the vehicle is just not happy and "skips" due to the front differential etc. It seems like I'm getting this sensation in the S when making a hard turn from a stop. I would think the S should be seemless in this regard with its modern, all wheel drive system. Visually, all checks out, I verified there is no drag on either of the front wheels, etc. 47,000 miles on the car.

I'm going to have my indy take a look, but certainly am curious if anyone has experienced or heard of this. I did not see much upon my searching. Thanks!

High performance tires which come at least on the Maybach (as well as all other sports cars I have owned) I owned do this. I presume the S also gets high performance tires.. Slow speed tight turning gets your the jerking sort of thing your feeling. There is NOTHING wrong with your car.

Front differentials are prone to "tightening up" when power is applied.

What happens when you apply less throttle ?

Thanks for the replies- love this forum- definitely was not sure what I would receive back on this one! Glad to see so far it seems to be a one off as compared to many of the common issues w the 222.

Interesting point on the tires, and I can see that. They're brand new. I replaced w nonrunflats recently. And that's exactly how to describe the feeling.

Thanks... actually I think it's only when throttle is applied. It's felt when you just touch the throttle to maneuver, like pulling into a driveway or out of a parking space. And the steering is turned 80-90 %.

Transfer case

Considering you have the 4 wheel drive it’s most likely a transfer case issue l would try a trick it’s to unplug the electrical connector on the transfer case and test drive the vehicle if it’s no longer present then you need a transfer case just be sure to have a type of small scanner to clear the faults after.

W222 S550 4Matic and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
If the front axle shafts are in good shape (no torn boots or excess play) then it's possible that the transfer case fluid needs be drained and replaced. When I experienced the issues that you described with my old W220, I chased the problem for months. Eventually, I took it to my local independent shop and they replaced the transfer case fluid. The transfer case service resolved the issue.

I hope you're able to identify your particular issue and get back to enjoying your car to the fullest.
