Trading my S560 for Audi S8!!

Hi everyone,

My local Audi dealer has been really persistent to trade my 2020 S560 with their 2023 Audi S8. My wife and I drove the S8 a couple of days ago for curiosity. I am not crazy about the S8 however the dealer is offering $2500 off MSRP in addition to 5K factory rebate! My S class is my weekend ride with only 7000 miles. What do you guys think ? Should I let my S class go?: I never had an Audi and any input would be appreciate it!

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
They are persistent because they will make a bunch of money off of you. They are not doing this for the christian fellowship. If you like the S8 way more than the S class then do it, but I would not do it for any other reason as you will be paying more for the Audi. From what I have heard, the S8 is very nice, just different from a traditional S class. I would imagine it is more like the S63.

Your s-class is hardly even broken in yet.

Unless you have some kind of fascination with the A8 that you don't <still> have with your S-class, don't do it.

This statement shows your driving style so clearly!
So, follow your heart. Life is short. Ditch the old and embrace the new and the latest.
The fact that you have never driven an Audi should not deter you to explore this manufacturer. You might see new frontier.

BTW, as your W222 is in perfect condition, be sure you either get a good trade-in price (or, sell it privately as I see many diehard fans of the W222).

I thoroughly enjoy and love my 2022 S8. I traded off my E450 and SL550 for it. The prices of the Audi S8s have dropped close to $15,000 from 2022 to 2023 on the S8s. I was rather upset when I saw one on the floor 10 months after I bought my 2022 S8. I'm sure this is because they are trying to get rid of their ICE cars as they are going electric all the way (stupid).
So the price for the S8 is really good and you are basically getting something every bit as nice as a W222 S63 for $50K less than the Benz.
However, I really miss my 2019 S560. It had ZERO gremlins, easy to operate the infotainment system, good mileage, quiet, very luxurious. I still like the looks of the W222s over the W223.
Let me warn you, the S8 will get tons of attention from onlookers and bystanders. That is something I didn't expect.
The S8 is extremely powerful with torque out the roof.
I'm like you, I trade a lot but I've slowed down on that a lot lately. As far as which one to go with, that is just too hard of a call. I personally just don't like the W223.

It may be a newer car but it lacks the presence of the W222 to me , interior of the W222 is nicer too .S8 could get more attention because it's a rarer car than a regular W222 S Class .

If you like the Benz, and have no issues, I'd go with an S63 -- rather than the Audi. Nothing against Audi, but they seem a little Volkswagenish. The Benz, however, is very much a Mercedes, which stands alone, IMHO.

Ever since dieselgate I don’t trust Audi. I had an A6 that had miss fires but Audi never addressed it saying it doesn’t show any codes but scan tools kept recording them. IMO- Another way to hide defects on their products.

Why would you trade a car you like in for a car you are not crazy about?

If you were crazy about it I would do it, but don't do it just because its a "good deal". $2,500 off of MSRP on a $140,000 car is nothing to be excited about lol.

Agreed. Seems like you have the money, so you should be driving something you're crazy about.

Yeah, what is the dealer offering you in trade? Sell it to somebody on here who really appreciates a sweet W222!

We can't decide this for you, at all. If you like the S8 more than just do it. If you only keep cars for a year or 2, you'll blink your eye and be ready to trade it again anyway. I like the looks of the Audi S8 but I don't want to own an Audi, it's that simple. Not a fan of owning one.

Even though I like Audi's, (had one forever that served me better than any of my Mercedes and I'm not one of these clowns that tries to suggest that an A8 is a glorified VW), this would be a no brainer. I would keep the S Class, if for no other reason it is a much more elegant car.

I bet when Mercedes pawned off auto union to VW they never thought someone would one day be thinking of ditching an S class for an audi.

Thanks for your opinions and comments. I actually went back to the Audi dealer today and checked out the S8 again. The leather quality wasn't the same as my S-class and I personally think an additionnal $900 monthly payment ( new lease payments are crazy) is not worth it pulling the trigger on this car!

The old saying is right, nothing drives like an S-Class, you are in one of the finest automobile at this price point, as others mentioned, wise decision to keep it and I hope you enjoy it for many years in good health.

Keeping your current car will disqualify you from claiming ''I have never kept any car more than a year !'' ....
