I think also the 40 PSI may have had an impact on rim damage, higher pressures the tires absorb less of the impact... I really don't think you will have an issue
I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on my S550 Coupe with 20' AMG wheels. I have tried various pressures from 32 to 40. I found that for me, 40 was to hard and rough feeling and the best pressures were 34 front and rear. Everyone's driving style is different though so you may like the feel of 40 psi.
That is Meguiars Hyper Dressing! It works well with the Pirellis. I have found different brand tires work with different tire shines well. That dressing slung with Michelin tires, but it works great with the Pirellis.

This might seem like a dump question but am serious: Will it cause a mess on the concrete? I have a few marks that I could not remove no matter what due to silica based tire shine (as in most of them there is silica except for cream gel dressings)

No, it’s water based. As long as a dressing is water based then it will always wash off concrete.
On my 2015 S550, Just changed my staggered set of tires from Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 19" (Not Run Flats) to Continental Extreme Contact (DWS 06 Plus). WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Much Quieter, smoother and almost as responsive as the Michelins. Car rides like a luxury sedan, and still handles very well. I could not be happier!
One always has to put the in to context how old the tires were that were being replaced. Replacing old tires with new tires of the same brand will yield improvements in quietness, smoothness and ride.

My Winter tires were almost brand-new (installed just about a year ago) and were also high Performance Winter tires. I guess that could be one reason why I am not super impressed like others yet (but conservatively happy). Also temperatures are still below 32 degrees... I don't know if that makes the All-Season not-yet-at their best temperature range whereas the winter tires were exactly within their perfect comfort range. Again, I like the new Cont ones but am not like overly abd shockingly impressed, just normally happy/stratified with them at least based the current zub zero conditions. It was too early anyway for me to switch them now but I got excited.

I heard the digital ones are the most accurate as they use a pressure transducer than mechanical setup, but how accurate are the vehicle TPMS readings? On all my current and pas vehicles they have always been off by 2-3 PSI!!! Unless they are accurate but all my hand-held tire gauges are not!!!!

On my '16 S550 Coupe the TPMS agrees with a quality hand held gauge.
31!!!??? Wow... My certified gauge is not arriving until Tuesday. I'll keep them at 33 PSI for now and see how it goes. I will adjust back to 35-36 PSI on Tuesday and see how does that compare. I felt it was a bit more soft that it should be on pot-holes (but that could be taken as both: good and bad thing). I am a bit concerned about taking it lower than 35 PSI but am willing to try. My main concern is pot-holes @low PSI and hence maybe increased wheel damage risk..
Have always run at 31 cold. As the tire warms up, psi will increase, too. Not uncommon on a long trip to have tp gain by 4 or 5. If ever in doubt, put a thermo gun on your tires and experiment.

One thing I appreciate a lot in all my BMW: The recommended tire pressure appears in the infotainment screen and compared to current pressure, and also, the recommended pressure does change with the temperature!. So, it shows the ideal temperature of the tire based on that moment (depending on the temperature inside the tire). While driving, the recommended pressure also changes, but also the current pressure increase with temperature so they are still a match. The benefit us, regardless of current temperature, you can always fill the tire with air up to the ideal value. No debate on what defines cold-settings. If my S560 has the BMW tech and BMW transmission, I would call it the IDEAL PERFECT ULTIMATE vehicle.

@SW20S you asked for some photos earlier, so here are a few clean (well not so clean, just a car-wash cheap shine) shots now, with a closer look at the curb protection edge too (it looks decent from this angle).
Just got the chance to drive with the CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS under dry and warmer conditions in the past 3 days. Am happy with them, the rubber is so soft on potholes and abosrbs imperfections on the road really really well. They are also so quite. For whatever reason, my winter tires “VREDESTEIN WINTRAC PRO” felt more comfortable below 30-35 degrees. The All-season Continental are however more comfortable above 40 degrees.
My tire pressure settings as a function of temperature are as follows:
35 degrees: 32 PSI
55 degrees: 34 PSI
65 degrees: 35-36 PSI
80 defrees: 37 PSI
I haven’t tried any lower or higher, but this tire inflation range keeps me always above 32 PSI in cold conditionsand always below 39 PSI when it’s warm, and am happy with how soft the tires feel.
Side note: Based on all the above, if anyone wants winter tires, I highly recommend the VREDESTEIN WINTRAC PRO. They truly feel as good as my current All-Season CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS
That makes sense about your winter tires. As the temps fall below 40 the compounds in your allseason tires start to get hard, while the compounds in the winter tire stay soft.
