New (to me) S560

Hi guys!
Wanted to introduce myself. Been lurking the forums for quite a while. Always been mostly an Audi and Porsche guy, but finally pulled the trigger on an S class yesterday. Love the car! Has quite a few options, including rear entertainment. The one thing it doesn’t have, is AMG package. Which means it has the most God awful looking wheels possible. Good news! They’ll make excellent winter wheels! Will be looking to upgrade to 19 inch or 20 inch wheels soon. If anybody has a good place to look I’m all ears. Definitely hoping to stay OEM. Otherwise looking forward to being part of the community. Will take better pictures once it gets back from my detailer at the end of the week or next week. Thank you guys

Beautiful spec (I see the 3D Burmester too, awesome!), and also beautiful exterior color too. Exterior color matches my vehicle which I really like, except that mine has the AMG package. Clearly u can easily tell from the photos that yours is non-AMG but you get the benefit of the smooth ride with the smaller rims radius. Enjoy and welcome to the forum and the W222 community. Is this your first S-class? Congrats again.

Thank you so much! I really do like it, but do wish I had the AMG package. Since I have a toddler, the rear entertainment seemed to be a little bit more important for the family. :-).
Yes, this is my first S class. I have had SL’s in the past and actually was raised with them my whole childhood. Love Mercedes and felt it was time for a different car. I purchased it from a Mercedes dealer almost 150 miles from me and drove it back. It was almost unreal how pleasant the drive was. Thank you again for the warm welcome!

Congratulations for the new ride. It’s a wonderful car to drive & enjoy. Stay with 18’s or 19 inch wheels if you can. Love the color.

Here are some AMG clone 20" wheels that are reasonably priced. I've had after-market AMG style wheels on my previous S600 and they were every bit as good quality as the OEM AMG wheels.

Thank you guys so much for the warm welcome, and the compliments.
So I ended up purchasing W223 wheels and tires. They even have the TPMS in them, but may not work with mine. Either way, I don’t think it’s an overly aggressive look, but should definitely improve the way mine looks currently.
Truly thrilled to be a part of this community! Very similar to the Audi community that I got used to. Almost everybody is positive and wants to help over there. Feels very similar here.

W223 Wheels

Congrats! Good looking set of wheels. If I’m not mistaken the W223 wheel/tire combos have a different O.D. than the W222 (i.e. they are +1 size). At stock height I doubt you will have much rubbing but you may need to recalibrate your speedometer.

Thank you. They are 20”. Thinking the ride shouldn’t suffer too much. I’ll definitely take pictures and post when done.

Good to know! On that note, completely different question. Figuring out how much the odometer is off should not be a problem, since I use an Escort 360 C, that tracks speed by GPS. However, I noticed this car has the infrared windshield with cutouts at the center bottom and another cutout at the very top. Do I have to place the radar detector in one of those cutouts so it can see properly? Just curious before I go to all of the trouble to hardwire and find out the hard way it’s in the wrong place. Thank you again for the tip about the odometer possibly needing recalibrating!

There are cut outs in the windshield that you can see in the right lighting. One is just to the right of the rear view mirror. I have an Escort Max 360C just to the left of the rear view mirror and it works fine. You will have to wire back to the ashtray cig lighter to find 12V switched, at least that is what I did. Pretty easy to do.

Congrats on the car!

The ride will be dramatically firmer on the 20s unfortunately...

Wanted to post an updated picture today. The wheels came in. Love the way. They look on this car! Unfortunately, the TPMS did not work, but I was not surprised at all. Will be ordering new sensors on Monday.
Drove the car in the city about 30 miles. While I believe the ride is a little bit firmer, I do not find it jarring at all. I actually don’t think there’s much of a difference. Our roads are absolutely terrible in Colorado, so it’s definitely not that we have smooth roads. I’m thinking it’s because I am more used to Audi and Porsche that have 20 inch or 21 inch from the factory. Either way, I don’t blame anybody who thinks the ride is too rough. It is just my opinion that the ride doesn’t suffer that much.
The car goes to my detailer on Monday for Window Tint, Ceramic, and PPF. I’ll snap a couple more photos after I get it back the following week. Thank you again for all of the positive comments and being so welcoming!

The wheels look great! But, I think as the newness of them wears off I think the harder ride will start to bug you. Lots of people here who have done the same thing.

The wheels you had were awful, but I personally would have gone to a 19...

If you’re happy with Porsche ride comfort, you’ll love your new ride even on 24s!
Good looking car and wheels, too.

I think those wheels look better on the W222 than the W223. Nice selection!

Maybe I missed this, but what size tires did you mount on the wheels? The ones in the photo above with all 4 wheels are a bit larger than stock 20” on W222. Wondering how much that would impact speedometer & odometer.

Thanks! I stayed with the tires in the photo. 255/40. Square setup. The speedometer is actually still within 1-2 miles.

If they are the size for the 223 that is bigger, and may account for the better ride.
