W222 AMG S65 lithium battery change instructions

Does anyone know the procedure to change out a lithium battery on a 2015 S65 AMG? It’s a special battery with a lot of connectors. I’ve changed out a lot of batteries in my life but this one is much different and I’m sure there has to be a process order to disconnect it and install the new one.

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
First you have to find the new battery. If you already have the battery there is no special order to unplugging everything. I would start with the positive terminal, then negative, then the connectors. Benz Ninja has a service where he can program the car not to look for this Li Ion battery and then you can just use a comparable AGM battery for a fraction of the cost of a new Li Ion battery. The only reason MB used a Li Ion battery on the S65/63 variants is for weight savings.

Does one type last longer than the other though?

@w205, the benz lithium is said to last up to 10 years or so, in my experience AGMs can go 7+.

Problem is right now sourcing the lithium car battery for the S63/65 and GTs are almost impossible since it’s back ordered with no fulfillment time frame (gray market new old stock is grossly inflated). Fortunately for us, benzninja can code in/out the use of an AGM if and when your lithium decides to throw in the towel.

It's important to disconnect the negative side of the battery first, otherwise you can cause an electrical short if the positive is removed first. Positive first when reinstalling the cables.

2014, I'm on 9 Years.... No Issues. I keep it on a charger during the Winter Months or when not driving for extended periods... Had to replace the AUX battery once.
