Info on W222 TPMS sensors?

Info on W222 TPMS sensors?
I’m going to buy another set of wheels & tires for my newly acquired 2020 S560. I’m going to keep the current set, for when I eventually sell the car. At that time, I would put this new set on my next W222, etc. I’m thinking of also buying new TPMS sensors. Question: do these sensors have batteries in them? If so, what is their projected lifespan? If the sensors in the wheels I take off are just going to die as they sit in my garage, perhaps I should just use those? Decisions, decisions!

They do have batteries. The batteries are not user replaceable. I tried opening up TPMS years ago. Everything is set in place with a plastic like material.
They do last a long time. Maybe 8 yrs? 10 yrs? I think they switch off when they don't rotate. Eventually they will die in your garage, but might take a while.
They arent super expensive anymore. Around $30 to $40 per sensor. It is going to be more of a pain if you have to have one of the tires taken apart again to put a new sensor in.

Following your (excellent) advice I did order a set of 18" wheels,18X8 RIAL M12, with new Pirellis P7 As Plus 3 and new sensors, balanced and shipped for $1943.68.
The ride is fantastic, you may want to give it a try, Gus is my guy at TireRack if you decide to go for it.

Following your (excellent) advice I did order a set of 18" wheels,18X8 RIAL M12, with new Pirellis P7 As Plus 3 and new sensors, balanced and shipped for $1943.68.
The ride is fantastic, you may want to give it a try, Gus is my guy at TireRack if you decide to go for it.

Replacing tires on my 2018 560S
My 2018 560S only has 17,840 miles on the original Pirelli run-flats. The tires probably could get to 20,000 miles but I welcome the opportunity to ditch the run flats for some regular Michelin Pilot Sport 4's. The price for tires at COSTCO is $1,275 installed including tax. COSTCO wants to use generic TPMS replacements when they install the tires. COSTCO is charging $11.96 for all 4 generic TPMS but I only want MB parts. Yes, I know the Michelin's are Summer tires; I live in Florida and never drive out of state.
Should I purchase:
I want to bring the correct TPMS parts to COSTCO. The car is now 5 years old; seems that is about the fewest number of years before the battery in the TPMS starts failing.
Should I purchase:
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor - Mercedes-Benz (000-905-39-07) $99 for all 4 sensors
or, should I purchaseSensor Kit - Mercedes-Benz (000-905-85-04) $232 all 4 sensors

Fun33, I cannot help on the choice of kits but support the decision to use the OEM transmitters in the wheels. I do not recall if the sensors in wheel wells use batteries or not. I think you only need to replace the piece in the wheels.
Interesting my S65 gets better tire mileage than the S560. My guess is two reasons, non run flats wear longer and the AMG’s use a larger size tire. You did not mention the wheel size, but it they are 20” consider using the AMG sizes (255-40 and 285-35)when you put on the non run flats. They should ride a little better and will help protect the 20” wheels from any road damage. The PS4s tires are the right choice. I replaced my Conti 5P’s with them and the word is “transformative.” The straight line traction is far better and the “NVH” are all much improved. Keep in mind this is non run flat to non run flat.
In any event I think you will really like the new PS4s tires on the car.

Supposed to last 10 years like smoke detectors in your house.
Now some last longer and some shorter but fr sure they will get you thru warranty period.
Plus they really only use power when driving so when parked the sensor goes to "sleep" and battery is saved.
Hence your battery life may differ.
