'20 GLS450, '17 S550 Sedan
Purchased my 2017 S550 4-MATIC in New Jersey and drove it home across 9 states (including a must-stop at Pappy's Smokehouse in St Louis for BBQ).
Averaged 25.8 mpg for the whole trip, and I was not driving "economically."

Presently 19 S560 SEDAN, 2014 XK, SOLD GLE 450e
Not unusual at all. A bit of tail wind and I can get/see the 30mpg. No wind at all and usually 28 mpg after driving 60 miles. Speeds of 75-80 on Interstates only above.
Had a couple of CL 550 and one S550 Coupe and they, if memory serves, would get mostly the 25 mpg. I'm talking filling up at the filling station next to I-20 and zeroing in every thing and putting the car on Distronic till I get to Van Horn, Texas or Sierra Blanca, Texas from Ft Worth, Texas. It's mostly uphill if one looks at the elevations of the towns on the way to Van Horn.
Got the 30 mpg on I-40 going from the base of the Tehechapi Mountains in Ca to Amarillo, Texas with one good tail wind. 2019 S560 being driven. Darn Economy Car for sure.
I could care less about around town mpg.

2016 S550
My personal best. Previous record was a 6 hour drive from Sacramento to Beverly Hills, 29mpg.
30MPG from a V8 without cylinder deactivation is impressive to say the least. I found the best mpg is around 69mpg based on the economy gauge.

My best in my '18 S560 was driving across S. Ohio farm land roads, no tail winds, running right at 60 mph in an attempt to maximize MPG, I averaged 35 mpg.
