Unless you get 10 years after the manufacturer’s warranty I see no reason of getting 10 year that actually will only work for the last 6 since the factory warranty covers everything for the first 4. 6 year warranty 60,000 miles today is about 6K I believe.

Exactly, the total length is the same. The longest Mercedes ELW warranty is 7 years, thas 7 TOTAL years from in service date. So, only 3 years longer than the factory warranty

The ELW pricing is the same as long as you buy it within the 4 year/50k original warranty.
He bought his warranty through and aftermarket company. I checked with that same ELW company before I bought my used S63 last year, and indeed they offer big savings "IF" you buy it when new, no such savings when buying the warranty later, even after only a couple years. He saved big time by buying it when the car was new as opposed to waiting. Remember, his warranty is not through MB. He can share the name of the company if he wishes, he told me last year via PM.

He mentioned that it was Continental Warranty I believe.

Yessir, I think he also mentioned Continental on a post last year. The dealership I bought my car from was a Continental dealer. I contacted them directly ahead of time, even before I settled on my car. Then had the dealer try to get a better price, but it was actually much higher than my direct quote. I totally understand about pricing so I don't judge them and say they're prices were too high but there are more economical options than their offering in the aftermarket ELW world, I can say that for sure.
