2020 S63 176K MSRP -- for low 70!!??

Just found that this S63 AMG, didn't get on cars and bids more than low 70s with less than 28K miles only!!!.... I mean, it's 2020 with mileage in the 80s, and so well equipped with 3D Burmester, HUD, heated windshield, Night View etc...... What is going on with the W222 market?

I almost asked close to that for my ~39K miles S560 only 2-months ago, and it sold for a few thousands less than that.......--> Yet it was a 2018!..... Did I get a steal offer? I got multiple offers in hand in fact, but is the market shifting or S63s are just not that desirable. I get that it's only 20K above a well equipped S560 though, but again this is a 2020, and mine was a 2018; and it is not the first S63 that I saw this month going for low 70s

I'd probably would have submitted a bid if I caught it on time. If I don't get myself convinced about the W223 PHEV and find the one with the options I need soon, I might be moving forward with my 3rd W222 and preferably get S65 or maybe S63 if they start selling for only that much coming from 176-180K MSRP just 3 years ago!!!!!!

To me, the only great thing about an S63, is that for about $9K, you could option one with the Carbon Ceramic Brakes. This one, at an original MSRP of $176K and no CCB! To me, that’s just NUTS!

Auction says reserve not met. CPO should retail @ $100k. Non CPO low to mid $90's.

I think your estimates are way off. This car was up for sale even before C&B and prices in the 80s as I have tracked it it’s history. The seller would have taken mid 70s or high 70s but he did not get more than low 70s. I have seen several S63s…. That doesn’t surprise me.

I actually think of it the opposite way. CCB would be the first thing that would shy me away from any car. I just could care less about CCB and it’s an added potential high maintenance ticket that adds nothing to my personal driving style but additional very high maintenance cost.

It will be absurd if I opt for the CCB and such cost only to get zero cost. I’d rather consider any highly reputable ceramic brake pads for that purpose for a fraction of the cost. CCB are meant for super cars, combined with someone who’d drive them and race them like a super car. In this case, I don’t consider the S63 a super exotic fast car that must have CCB nor that I race it that way to begin with, hence CCB can actually have zero value to many people. The maintenance/replacement cost is just not worth it for a family sedan….. To me, it is a reason to walk away from a car, at least that’s just me.

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
Lots of red flags with this one, 3 Michelins and one off brand tires. All wheels look like they have been curb rashed and sloppily repaired, only one key. Dash leather is delaminating just to name a few things. Not to mention the fact that the car fax and docs do not match the pics of the car. I think is really nice shape this is a 90K car but this car looks like it has been abused and not properly maintained thus the value of mid to high 70s.

Good thing about these cars (with minor cosmetic issues) is that you can buy it, fix things like the dashboard via a warranty claim, few 100 bucks for the wheels, get an additional wheel, and you would have a great car for at least 10K below what an equivalent perfectly looking vehicle would cost you. Enjoy you it for a couple years, and go off to the next one without losing a ton of money. Anyway my point wasn't about this W222 in particular, but mainly about the recent trend of some W222 I have seen on the market going for really low price, including recently a Maybach on C&B that didn't exceed mid 70s.... The same is true for W223, I am starting to see a few of them for high 80s. Meanwhile, majority of BMW 7-series that am tracking like the B7 or M760 are still holding solid close to 90K matching their prices from 3-4 months ago.

Sounds like you have no experience with CCB’s
This is literally the best option on a car. I take that over a 3D Burmester…

I don’t see how the dashboard can be covered by any warranty. This is a $10k replacement but can be repaired. Big job though. AMG forged wheels are expensive so not sure what kind of wheels you are thinking here.

It's obvious from my post that I never owned a car with CCB and that I have no first-hand experience with CCB.... At least until someone mentions to me a reason that I should consider them, and as I stated, specifically for a 4-door sedan which I drive like a family-sedan from a driving style prospective.
It's all about priorities I guess and personal preferences... Probably the reason I prefer 3D Burmester over CCB is exactly the same reason you'd prefer CBB --> Driving style? maybe.... I just don't see the value in CCB for me.

100 bucks, I meant, the investment to fix the curbs on those wheels via a diamond cut machine to re-surface them and then powder coat them as needed.... I've had to do that a couple of times when we lived in the Chicago area.... Majority of highly reputable shops would charge anywhere from 100 USD to 300 USD PER* wheel. Reading my post again, I have no idea what I meant by "additional wheel" though... lol

The dashboard issue should be covered under warranty. It's a known issue and that's not the first time am seeing a W222 with such problem. A quick search led me to two incidents wherein owners of S560s were able to get that covered under warranty. Another poster claimed having that done 3 times in FL, all under warranty. My concern, though, if service decided to do a full replacement of the dash instead of trying to fix, at that point I would rather pay out of pocket to fix it (glue it) elsewhere rather than getting someone to play with the cabin up to that level for a full dashboard replacement.... Former posters didn't specify how theirs were fixed though.

I will have both! 100% of the time. CCB.... They live forever without dust and that Burmester sound!

I'm tickled that CCB doesn't add $10K to resale. Makes them easier to reach for on my depreciation monkey budget.

On Topic.... Guys with interest rates where they are and banks unwilling to loan for longer then four years we are watching the high end used market implode in real time.

This is clearly a scam. You can see it in 2 seconds. It has most of the components of the 3D Burmester system, but where are the rotating door speakers??? And the build sheet says rear seat climate control...also missing. It even has the wrong front seats. The headrest should be electrically operated, with NO button on the headrest for forward and back movement. The headrest movement, all 4 directions, is operated by the switch on the door. I feel sorry for the person who buys this car

Good catch on the headrest. Thats really strange, not sure what happened there. And the build sheet in Netstar says it has 3D Burmester, but its missing the rotating tweeters. Really interested in what actually happened with this car.

Sadly no option adds significant value to a used car. The CCB's add pennies on the Dollar and so does the Burmester. But then it doesn't really matter; one buys them primarily for enjoyment, not value retention

Ideally you try it. From stopping power to zero brake dust to lower unsprung weight to longevity, there no comparison. Ceramic pads are not related to CCB's. Also, AMG multi-piece steel rotors costs thousands to replace and CCB's last at least a 100k miles per rotor.

To be fair, it is a 3D Burmester system as shown on the build sheet. Rotating tweeters are installed now per comments. Supposed COVID oversight which could be possible. There is no rear climate control on the window sticker and the headrest looks ok; also nothing on the sticker. That was an option.

Whats happening to the W222 market is they are large luxury sedans which have incredibly steep depreciation and they are about to be 4 years old at the newest. This is normal, you've been too used to the last couple years. These cars depreciate like a ROCK.

No dust is the last reason to spend $10k+ on CCBs lol. Braking performance is the reason.

Says YOU! I spent over $16K to add the AMG CCB’s to my SL450, for only two reasons: No dust and I like the way they look. The fact that they reduce unsprung weight, contributing to better ride quality & handling, along with additional stopping power, was just icing on the cake. If I had been able to order the CCB on my W222’s, I would have. They are simply amazing!

My point exactly. And to think that ceramic pads are anywhere close to dust free like CCB’s is just wishful thinking.
Having years of experience with both, to me, spending the money is a no-brainer when getting a new car.
The brakes are also subsidized; the option is only $9k, a fraction of the actual cost of these…

Interesting reason for spending that amount for the carbon brakes. The primary reason for those brakes are your secondary reasons - better performance, especially when hot, and lighter weight. That is why we used them on jet planes and why race cars like F-1 use them.

Driving a car with CCB and initiating a panic stop has been likened to dropping an anchor. It is absolutely astonishing how they stop the car.
