I reserve my opinions in most cases but I understand people have different taste. I absolutely LOVE my hood ornament...but to each their own. Here's a video showing you how to delete the upright hood ornament:
Please post some pics of the finished product.

Same here, love it. Missed it on my previous E wagon a year or two ago.
Brings back memories as a kid when my folks had various Mercedes - I remember the star. Plus pulling on the diesel glow plug knob to warm them up before starting.

It's yours, modify as you want.

Hey Polo, are you planning on going with a custom grille that would have the Mercedes star in it? Something like an E63 grille? Because that's the only way that I could see this kind of modification looking somewhat decent. And that car should have the AMG body option IMO.

Or in my Dad's case the choke on his 180. When my mom was learning to drive he used to tell her to use the star to set her course going down the road. I guess she must not have been real steady with the wheel.

Love the star.

It's a two step process: 1) Visit your BMW dealer. 2) Buy a BMW.

I’ve always enjoyed the hood star. Even as a kid riding (sliding side to side) in the rear seat of the 1960 180D. For glow plugs this one had a handle that got twisted beyond the run detent until the heating element in the dash glowed red then push forward to start. Lol

LOL, but the 7 Series isn't quite as nice as the S Class - especially the interior...

I can’t think of why anyone would do this to a Sonderklasse. Even the ///AMG variants with their more sporty appeal still need the land, sea and air gunsight IMO.

Mine gave way on my ‘06 S55 AMG and I damned near didn’t want to drive the car, LOL. My son got into it and was like “Yo!! What the entire…?!?!”

The new S63 doesn't have the hood ornament, and I think its a big mistake. Doesn't even look like an S Class. If I got one I would swap back in the regular grille and hood ornament

I agree , S Class should keep its standing Mercedes-Benz logo . The funny thing is that I was saying same thing for W212's FL models but my W212 has a grill logo instead , I love it that way but for the S Class my initial thoughts stands

I think all the sedans should at least have the option of the traditional shield grille and hood ornament, like they do overseas.

An S Class without the shield grille and hood ornament is like a 911 with square headlights.

100% agreement. I find i very frustrating that you can no longer get the smaller than S Class sedans with the hood ornament.
