I've gone through only a small fraction of the Official press release I had posted downthread, but noticed that there will be 3 levels of sound systems, the top level naturally being called "4D" and featuring 30 speakers, with "eight exciters...included in the Burmester® high-end 4D surround sound system. Two exciters are integrated into the backrest of each seat. Direct reproduction of the sound resonance in the seats adds another level to the three-dimensional listening experience – 4D sound." In other words, "Buttkickers" so to speak.

The EQS uses the lates 350KW system, so a 60 mile charge will only take 3 minutes. Range of the car is listed at 700km (435 miles) based on the more generous WLTP standard. This will be less under EPA rules unless MB is gaming the system like Tesla (there was an interesting article in Car & Driver https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...range-numbers/)

That said, I am a bit hesitant when looking at the camouflaged EQS models. Unlike the S-Class, the car looks more like a Model S hatchback. I hope it will look close to the EQS Vision. We'll have to see...
I'm also a bit worried about the EQS styling, not because it is reminiscent of a Tesla, but rather because (at least in spy shots) it reminds me of a frumpy FWD based sedan, almost like they smooshed an AMG GT4D, it has a cab forward design and doesn't look anywhere as sleek as the concept especially the headlights which look incredibly big, and the greenhouse looks incredibly small with a high belt-line. I think the S580e will be the sweet spot, enough range in town, powerful I6 and gas range for highway/long-distance cruising while still being good looking and having a nice interior, and charging will be less of a worry.

The Burmester 3D seems like the equivalent of standard Burmester in the W222. In the UK we had the front bass system as standard whereas in America the Burmester was standard. I wonder what it's going to be like this time and how much Burmester 4D is going to be.

Oh I didn't even see anyone ask that, but yes it does lol. Already in production. U.S. cars arrive in March-April they are saying. I really just posted it because it's a really interesting look at the new factory. Probably the cleanest one I've ever seen for a regular production car.

Great video, wish MB would have shown off the beautiful porcelain interior though with the matte wood, so far not feeling the gray or red ones I've seen but the saddle brown looks good.

The car has grown a bit in every dimension...

length +34mm
width +55mm (w/normal door handles)
height +12mm
wheelbase +51mm
track, front +36mm
track, rear +51mm
trunk +20 liters

EQS will be smaller, I expect a footprint close to the E's, though total interior volume, inclusive of cargo capacity, should be between E and S.

There are buttons on the inside of the steering wheel at 10 and 2 o'clock in the first setup but not the second. Upshift/downshift, or something else?

I think they may be 21’s. Big wheels look just SOOOOO sexy, but on anything other than a ribbon smooth highway, ride quality goes right out the window with these huge wheels, shod with run flat tires sporting “rubber band” depth sidewalls. The woman in the photo should be wearing 6” stilettos to finish the thought: sexy, but very uncomfortable.

I don't know. When I look at that woman this music starts to play in my head.

from AutoCar:

"the S63e 4Matic+ and S73e 4Matic+ ...are set to run Mercedes-AMG’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine in combination with an electric motor mounted within the rear axle operating on a 400V system and a lithium ion battery with a capacity around 20kWh.

In the S63e, the electric motor is said to develop 134bhp, giving the car a combined system output that AMG insiders put at “close to 700bhp”.

The S73e, meanwhile, is set to get a 201bhp electric motor for a combined 805bhp, making it the most powerful S-Class model yet."

The S580e in contrast, along with the weaker ICE, appears to get the smaller electric motor of the S63e, but a somewhat larger, 28kWh battery.

Had a little trouble decoding the drivetrain info a few posts back ...

For USA, the regular, non-AMG offerings have three engine choices, a 3.0 liter in-line six (S450) and two V-8s (S500, S580)? All bi-turbo and mild hybrid? Are both V8s coming to USA or just the 580? And there's a S580+ plug-in hybrid.

I know the inline six is a brand new design, are the V8s too, or are they a carryover from W222 designs?
