We are adding a second car lift so we could have some more space As much as I like the car, I am hoping for the EQS to fill the sedan slot. Really would like a have a nice EV. But I do like the 580e as an alternative. No AMG needed as we already have fast cars. Also looking forward the next SL...

What makes you think the center console is plastic? Doubtful IMO compared to the remaining interior quality. Same as the other elements. We know the the piano black is all wood. My assumption is that it might be metal (similar to the AMG GT center console). I will judge it once we know more or I can see/feel this in the flesh.
We have seen that the Carbon fibre trim also has the center console in carbon fibre.

And, the greater world of tech is so much more seasoned now than a decade or two ago. Companies know how to make this stuff bulletproof these days. In addition, I believe troubleshooting is greatly streamlined and repairs mostly involve snapping out the defective widget and snapping in a new one. Don’t I sound like someone trying to rationalize this new car? OK, you caught me.

Gonna add another two likes. Just saw the commerical - the one where she describes the car like its her boyfriend - and I'm really liking these multi-spoke wheels and the beige interior with the matte wood trim.

I did see pics of a car with the aluminum weave trim and it replaced the gloss black plastic beneath the row of buttons below the screen all the way back to the center console lid. Not sure where I saw it tho. Any help here?

The things that are very compelling about the new W223 to me, are as follows:
1. Supposed to have a more hushed cabin.
2. Supposed to have better ride quality. Hopefully the new EABC works even better that latest version of MBC.
3. Four wheel steering.
4. Larger trunk.
5. Outstanding interior materials and more “color” when a non-black interior is ordered.
I could do without:
1. Massive touchscreen.
2. Lack of buttons, knobs, switches even if they were redundant.
3. Disintegrated dash design.
4. Tail light design.
5. Extended grille, resulting in a bit of a “snout” look.
Really hoping for:
1. A spare wheel/tire, at least as a factory option.
2. Panorama Roof being optional.
3. 18” wheel option that looks great.

In the end, enough dislikes to reject this car as the next daily driver for me (that would be the first S-Class I am not getting, since my initial one, a 1979 450SEL, the only one I bought used).

I guess the big question now is exactly WHEN the Dealer Ordering Guide will be available and just WHEN these cars will begin hitting dealer showrooms in the US. Or, will a ton of the early production go to China?

This will not be plastic. Likely gloss black aluminum...

The new S class looks to be a technological tour de force. The taillights hearken back to the W126. The W126 will always be my favorite S class. The S class reveal can be found at www.mercedes-benz. com which is MB's international website. There's also an update and test drive of an EQS test mule. The EQS is still a couple of years away.

I doubt we will see any of these cars until March or April.

I will but not until September, 2021 (2022 Model year) when my current lease runs out. I suppose I might have to wait for my car until November, 2021 to arrive after ordering. I can't wait. For me, comfort, technology, and safety mean everything. From the videos I've seen so far it has all these features and then some.
