Congrats on your car. Struggling to find price increase justifiable... I guess I will wait to see one in the flesh.

2021 Cirrus Silver S580 AMG, 2020 Polar White GLE350
I heard from my dealer yesterday that the 2021 S580 that I ordered back in September has not shipped yet. The car was built 3 weeks ago. The dealer said that Mercedes has not released any new S Class cars for shipment to the US. No reason was given for the delay and no estimate was given for the US release date. My guess is that Mercedes is building inventory so that dealers will get cars for their showrooms and to demo slightly before actual customer orders are shipped. It is unlikely, in my opinion, that I would receive my order before the dealer had cars to show potential customers. There is also the possibility that cars produced are awaiting parts such as electronic chips or circuit boards that can be installed after the car is made. In any case, the dealer said that they hoped I would get my car in early April. I told the dealer that if the delivery goes out past April, I may be better off waiting for a 2022 model...the dealer did not like hearing that but understood.

Some 2021 S580s have arrived in the Baltimore port with more on the way. I am not sure of the release date for sale (anyone's guess is as good as mine) but some have been discharged off the ship in Baltimore. These might be the first batch to the US into Baltimore being unloaded on 2/15/2021.

I believe Germany is still under lockdown or restrictions? I believe to ports are open but because of restrictions or sickness slowed or behind schedule. Even in good times it's not uncommon for cars to sit at the plant lot or port lot for weeks

Below is the Pricing Guide in German. If you google translate it you can see the various com combinations (i.e. 21” wheels limited to 4.5 deg and maximum size wheels for 10 deg is 20” . It’s actually due to dimensions/width of tire 255/4x for 10deg)

Does anyone on the forum have an inside scoop when they plan to update the Mercedes Benz Website to show the 2021 S Class configure with pricing and options?

My dealer told me he has a few 2021 S580 at the port in Brunswick, should have them in a week or two? My car is scheduled to be built mid June, I hope that website gets updated before June, Thanks!

My car was in transit last week and should be in port soon. But my dealer said that the car will be held by Mercedes until the official release date which he said is June 1st. Check with your dealer and see if he is aware of the release date.

It's hard to believe Mercedes is shipping cars to VPC's to be held for over two months before shipping to dealers? I suppose anything is possible but to build, ship and hold sure isn't logical, they don't make money with a car stilling at the VPC for months? My dealer told me their Rep. had no answer which doesn't surprise me as Mercedes is anything but transparent!

Dealer not giving me a valid reason why even though I see a few around town and MANY at 3rd party dealers/resellers.

I believe Germany has just lifted it's lockdown regulations? So that makes sense sitting in their port (I think their lockdown started sometime in December 2020 and ended March 7, 2021) but sitting here at the VPC for several months with no lockdown, makes sense, don't know?

My frustration is how is MB selecting which cars get shipped and which don’t!?!?!
First in/first out? Random? Inside connections?
I know of an acquaintance who had his car shipped (and delivered) AFTER mine (his arrived German port weeks after mine!)

I'm sure it has to do with shipping routes and schedules but the lockdown I'm sure caused a backlog along with that? When I ordered my car and figured the normal 3 months (not six to eight months) order to delivery my jaw hit the floor, 2020 was anything but normal!

Agree, but as I mentioned before, other cars were delivered to customer after mine arrived at port,,,,and to same route/destination! How the heck was the ship order determined in this case!?!?
