2021 GLE 450
There is a lot of unknown stuff like when they will arrive, MPG, and stuff. Glad we are here to support each other while we wait. Looking forward to hearing from actual owners, especially about the rear wheel steering. My scheduled build date was July D1 but was moved to July D3. I'll have to find something to distract me for 3 more months. I waited almost as long after I ordered my GLE450 and stressed that there might be issues, there wasn't any.

Looking at all the standard and options, the car should be great, the main reason I bought this big car is the rear steering! I presently own a 2019 Cadillac CT6 Platinum with rear steering, I think it's only 3 or 3.5 degrees rear steering though, the car drives like it's a smaller model. It's 205" long, when I picked it up and starting driving I kept looking out back because it felt much smaller! Someone mentioned it in another tread, I think they are right, June 1, 2021 release date. On one of the New York dealers sites they show car manufactured and waiting to ship, car in route and cars at VPC in their inventory. This wait shouldn't affect you or me, mine shouldn't be in the states before 06/01. I think your looking at over 3 months?

Yes, it's about 2 months and a week until D3 July, and probably another 5 weeks to ship??? Maybe 4 months IF everything goes as expected. We'll see

Hi, you state your main reason is “the rear steering.”
So I’m curious you ordered only the 4.5 deg steering instead of 10 deg (code 216). Especially since your wheels are 20”, which allow code 216, so you could of ordered the 10 deg ( only 21” wheels are limited to 4.5 deg).

Look at Mercedes website, the 10 degree is offered on the Executive Line not the AMG Line.

Not true, I ordered mine with both.
Then again, maybe you can’t order it in US configurations; if that’s the case, too bad, because technically it’s possible, and maybe just a marketing thing,,,, go figure

Like I said, it must be a USA thing, because one can order 10 deg rear axle steering with AMG line in other parts of the world (I did). So it’s not a technical issue, most likely marketing.

I believe you are right! I went on the German website and could configure 4.5 or 10, in the U.S. Luxury show no rear steering, AMG 4.5 and Executive 10 just as your post states. It may have to do with street widths? When I was in Germany I did notice how narrow some of the street were in some of the cities. Like I said, my Cadillac only has 3 - 3.5 degree, so 4.5 is obviously better. So Vegas Benz, are you in the U.S?

I think it’s because, for now, you can basically only order in packages and not pick and choose individual options.
I don’t think it’s a street width issue because you can still order 10 deg in US in Exec Line config.
Also, its interesting your main criteria was rear wheel steering yet you prioritized AMG line above the 10 deg.

I'm an old gear head so the AMG Styling peaks my interest more than the other two. The 3.5 on my Caddy is really great, the 4.5 should be better. In a perfect world you would get everything you wanted, unfortunately in this world there are trade offs, I'm happy with my choices, we'll see when the rubber meets the road!

What’s the sound system?
Standard, Burmester 3D (810), or 4D (811)?
If its AMG Package I assume 4D (but not listed anywhere in post(s)).

Standard 3D, the 4D is around $7,000.00. I have the 3D in my cabriolet, it's a good sound system, I believe the sedan uses a couple more speakers? The 4D has to be awesome, just felt I didn't need it?

On previous car orders (MB,BMW) I’ve never gone with the highest sound system option. This time I pulled the trigger and went for the 4D (31 speakers, 1750W vs. 15 speakers, 710W). Seats also have built in sound/vibration.exciters and also I believe can be tied to the optional Energizing Comfort massage system. Maybe a bit gimmicky.
I’ll et you know if it was worth it once I take delivery soon hopefully.

It should be awesome. I remember many years ago being in a lounge and passing the stage, the sound was so loud with mega base I could feel all my internal organs moving! I think this gives you the same feeling? I can almost see you cruising the highways and byways, stereo cranked up and living the good life. The car will be here in no time!

According to my dealer my 2021 S580 was shipped on the Apollon Highway which made port in Brunswick, GA. late last night. Let's see how long it will sit before being loaded on a truck and head West? When they finally updated MB North America's website and showed the S500 and S580 without a price, not sure if all the options were included. They recently added the 2021 Maybach also no price, with not many options. I would think once the price goes up on their website that would be a indicator for a release date?

My salesman picked up an A-Class from the Baltimore Port last week and reported that a large section of S-Class' that were previously there were now gone. Maybe MBUSA if getting ready?

S580
Angry

I am so very disappointed in my new S580. I knew that I couldn't have my must have optons of HUD and variable tinted glass in sunfoof. And I iknew I couldn't have rear tray tables. But I agreed to lease anyway.
Now that I've received it there are multiple real problems:
Tablet in rear to control MBUX doesn't work (already has been in shop for hours with no fix)
Repeated low battery messages (almost daily, then 6 hours in shop and now around once a week)
No internet connection so browser app won't work
Entertainment system has no DVD player (and no internet) so what am I supposed to do with it?
send2benz fails to send to car quite often
driver's seat doesn't always return to previous position when entering car
passenger seat loses it's memory settings
can't connect phone via bluetooth to rear entertainment screens
when connected via usb, picture shown for album playing is not the album pic but a pic of my front garage wall (presumably from the front camera)
this works correctly on front screen when connected by bluetooth

there are other things that I don't like:
Driver's screen can show radio station but not song or show being heard (as on my 2018 S560)
the only way I can see to view this info is to use the large screen which is a terrible waste of screen space
Both driver's and main displays need to be used more efficiently to present more info and more ability to customize
I would prefer the wood steering wheel, but it was no longer an option
The touch screen is OK (but it's greasy all the time) but I hate the flick controls on the steering wheel (and other places)
I much prefer a button that gives feedback

I would be very interested to know if others with this car have similar problems.

So, how does the car drive?

Exactly, today's carmakers and drivers are too preoccupied with non-driving related stuff and toyz.
Me I'd just get a base car and not worry about it.

I have not experienced any of the problems you are having, but I have the S580 AMG version without the rear entertainment features. Blue tooth connectivity works fine as does wireless Apple Car Play. The MBUX driver profile works very well, but the dealer helped set that function up. There are a lot of tech settings and it is easy to turn some off by accident. My wife reported that suddenly the outside mirrors were not folding when she locked the car. I found the feature in settings and turned it back on…back to working properly, but at a loss for how it got switched off. I’m hoping that many of the problems you are experiencing will be resolve with a bit of fine tuning of the multitude of settings. Now, go out and enjoy driving your new car!

I also haven’t experienced the issues you mention. Seems like you might need a software reboot/reinstall/update via MB service center.

Regarding fingerprints on central screen, there are screen protectors made specifically “fingerprint proof,” usually found in same place they to ceramic coating/wrap. But they reduce a bit the brightness, so I didn’t go for it. But it’s a matter of taste.
