Let me tell you a story about a BMW Alpina B7. I order a Alpina B7 some years ago (BMW is very good tracking your build schedule and shipping). So following along I see the production week. It's built, I get a VIN and it's shipped to Alpina for their modifications. I get more information that Alpina finished and ready to ship. A month goes by, nothing, another three weeks nothing. Anyway, long story short, BMW loses track of the car, can't find, not just any car an Alpina B7! After waiting almost 3 1/2 months they find the car and ship! The worse car I ever owned, turbo lags so bad you needed a stop watch to see when the turbo would spool up and that's why they went to twin turbos!
It's hard to believe Mercedes is shipping cars to VPC's to be held for over two months before shipping to dealers? I suppose anything is possible but to build, ship and hold sure isn't logical, they don't make money with a car stilling at the VPC for months? My dealer told me their Rep. had no answer which doesn't surprise me as Mercedes is anything but transparent!
This is standard fare when a new model is introduced and often held up by EPA certification. There are quite a few AMG's and Porsches that have sat at the VPC for nine month to a year before being released. Our 2018 E63s sat at the VPC from May to November.
The holdup is almost always related to government red-tape yet everyone blames the manufacturers.
If there is too much inventory, new release models are usually held up too as happened with the MY2018.
Finally got my order in. This is a big deal for me as my 2020 Maybach S560 recently got stolen from me 2 months ago. So this is the perfect replacement for me!
I choose to get the AMG Line (Sport) package instead of the Executive package since I like the sporter, more aggressive look. I live near New York so I do not want to look like a Limo driver.. LOL
Since I choose to get the AMG Package, the rear steering that is offered in the new W223 S-classes is only 4.5 Degree turning angle instead of the 10 Degrees the Executive Series offers. I guess cause of the fender wells on the AMG package they weren't able to get 10 Degrees..? Idk makes no sense to me. Besides, that being my only problem; I added every option my eyes could see. So this is a fully loaded S580 4matic with AMG package
As you can see, I spec'd mine with Designo white with Carmine Red/Black Exclusive Nappa Leather! Reminds me of the 300SL Red leather. It's awesome to see Mercedes offering Red leather now for the S-class models.
However, at the moment there is not a lot of options to choose from regarding exterior colors. I'm not sure why my build sheet says $1,134,406, LOL it ended up being $162,000. The most expensive S580 ordered yet, according to my Mercedes Dealerships near me. Also, the Burmester is now 4D sound and of course I added all the 3D Technology Packages along with Rear Tv's and 21" inch Wheels. Disregard the 20" wheels in the build slot. I should be expecting my S580 in March or April 2021. Only a couple of months left!

As much as I dislike the huge HUD hole, truck-like center vents and use of scratch prone piano black, I really like the saddle and black color combination as shown.
Hi, i've been waiting for the S580 to order in Poland but Mercedes doesn't give any info.
Since the S580 have already been delivered, i assume that You already have a catalog, could someone post a pdf for me or at least tell me the 0-100 km/h time?

the link You posted guides to the polish konfigurator - and it has only: S450 and S500 (and some diesels)...

It appears from what I see the largest petrol engine in Europe (right now) is the I-6 429 H.P., (S500) I have seen no V8's. Speaking with my dealer in the USA he told me he can only get allocation for the V8, no S500 (I-6) in the U.S. yet?

There haven't been any S 500's allocated to the US for quite a while. I think they have finished 2021 allocation of that car.

I believe I saw some estimated 0-60 times by one or two car magazines, it was around 4.2 seconds, so you are spot on Cole Blooded if they are correct, which most times they are.
So Mercedes Bez - one of the biggest and best automobile companies in the world can't get their **** together.. amazing.
1. Release a car in September
2. 6 months later - still no information on when which car will be available (580 in Europe)
3. In the meantime you can order the 580 in US
4. Still the US website doesn't even have the new model available to configure
5. You can order a 580 but there is no clue of the 0-100 time..
6. A lot of features which where promoted while release are not available and there is no information on when they will be available..
It really amazes me that they get away with all this stuff. Another thing - I don't know how it is in USA but in Poland they have a huge lot of service and warranty problems.. My CLS has a double vision windscreen, they said that maybe I should use a cloth to clean it, surprisingly it didn't help - so they said it's normal and that's the way it should be.. Merc isn't acting fair recently.

I tried to format your build to better see the breakdown. Looks like NO surprises. My build is just a little different and is a 2022, but I expect similar numbers. Nothing was priced, but I see there are a LOT of codes and only some are added amounts.
Congratulations! I would assume it is ready to deliver to you when the cars are released. I am hoping mine is not delayed by any parts shortages. I hope it's everything you expect!

It was just built, I'm hoping it gets on a ship in the next six to 10 days in Germany, it's around 17 days across the Atlantic, then figure around week or so to get to the dealer.
Where there are just codes there is no charge, it's either included with the car or part of the package option.
I think you ordered a 2022 S500, if I remember correctly? I have a 2020 E53 Cabriolet with that 429 H.P. I-6, I like it and wanted it but they were closed out and my dealer could only order the S580, so that's what I ordered.

That 429 H.P. moves that convertible pretty good, in the sedan I think it's only about a half second slower that the V8 and probably about a third better in gas mileage.
