My dealer is also saying July 15, but no word yet on when vehicles already on the ground at the VPC will arrive at the dealerships. I am hoping that they will start shipping cars to the dealers next week, but who knows.

When asked about shipping my salesperson said they anticipated having at least one at the dealership on the 15th, with the rest showing up shortly after, I'm assuming that's the surplus at the VPC not cars in the pipeline.

Haven't heard anything, are they starting to move S Class' yet, does anyone have any inside info they want to share? My salesperson told me that all dealers should have at least one S580 on the floor on July 15th?

I called a dealer yesterday. All they could tell me was, "a couple of weeks".

Unlikely, release date is when the cars can be released from the VPC. Trucks still need to pick them up and take them to the dealers.

I used to do some truck scheduling in another industry. One would think with everyone anxiously awaiting getting their new cars they would be scheduling trucks to be on the ready for that date?

Unless they are out delivering other cars. When a car is "released" the carrier has 48 hours to pick it up from the VPC.

Thanks! So, Mercedes releases XYZ Cars (are these huddled into different shipping zones), then that info goes into a trucking pool for shipping? Is that how it works? I asked my dealer if they notified them about shipping and delivery dates, I was told they just show up, is that correct?

I was in to see the dealer last year and I told them I wanted a GLE fully loaded, do they have a white one in stock? They said that if I would be around in 3 hours, they had a truck coming in from the factory with a white GLE on it that was nicely equipped and it was available. I came back in 3 hours, and a short while later a truck pulled in with 6 new GLE’s on it, all for the dealer. I bought the white GLE after looking it over. In this case, the dealer was advised when the car shipped. It was made in Tuscaloosa, about a 12 hour drive from here. In this case the dealer was advised of the shipment and he knew what cars were on the truck. The VPC may operate differently than the Tuscaloosa plant.

Yes, you can see when the car is picked up in Netstar. Also, dealer management is notified about when a truck is coming and what's on it.

New info from my dealer:
-Around Week of July 19th Release (Hopefully a Bit Earlier)
-Likely to Markup due to Inventory Shortage
-Active Ambient Lighting and Multi Contour Chips are Short (possibly can effect 2022 models)
-No RSE (Maybach Only)

Does anyone know the delivery date for the 2021 s class on the east coast? I was first informed the 15th a week ago but I’m not sure if anyone has more recent news?

Looks like the release date is going to be moved back a few days. Your dealer can tell you the status of your car.

Just looked you up, does your last name start with an S? Just curious, My salesperson said dealers would have a least one S Class on their floor on July 15th? When Mercedes says a release date of July 15th, is that from the VPC or to their general customer base? If it is from the VPC then you would be correct but if released to the public he may be correct? I guess if he is right you should see cars shipping from the VPC Monday or Tuesday on Netstar? Just questions, thanks!

While I understand the anticipation around this car, I don't think it will sell for very long at MSRP or even markup. Especially for repeat customers.

I'm looking to buy one too but if my dealer tries to mark it up (simple economics, I know I know) then I will most certainly wait until Q1 2022 and buy from another dealer.

I used to strictly do European Delivery (program has since ended) and was regularly getting between 10-12% off MSRP on a brand new, just released model. While I don't anticipate getting this sort of a deal this time around, I wont tolerate a dealership trying to take advantage of repeat clients.

Finally, while I love the S class and have always had one since 2004, sedans are dying out and they are not as hot as they used to be. I am mostly making this purchase as a business decision (NY limousine service) and we always have at least 1 or 2 S-classes in our fleet. But tbh, our LWB Range Rover is just as, if not more, popular than the S.

I really wanted the new escalade for the extra space. But dealers still want 10-20k over sticker. The Range Rover is nice but the new generation is coming next year.

I've owned a lot of cars, twice paid M.S.R.P. but really wanted the cars and paid it, twenty thousand over M.S.R.P. they should lose their dealership, price grouching and greed! In today's world there is no respect for anything.
