Thanks Max, knew you'd have a answer! Obviously there are a lot of S Class cars at the VPC's. Do they ship as quickly as they get trucks or is there some kind of preordained schedule they follow? In other words, if they get a truck in there early next week for my dealer, is it conceivable another truck would follow or is there a time frame between? I'd assume Mercedes want to satisfy all the areas that VPC handles.

So, did you get a deposit on one? A lot of dealers are not stand alone, you could see if your dealer has another store affiliated with them, if so you can ask if they have any unsold.

It's Mercedes Benz of Long Beach. About a mile from the vpc.

Afaik there aren't any affiliated dealers.

Gonna be a long weekend waiting on the 19th.

Take Mine Maybe?

I have to say, I've been following this blog closely over the past few months and have enjoyed the thread. I ordered my 2021 S Class last September. I usually go for the AMG line, but watching the 2021 reveal on YouTube, I went for the luxury line this time in onxy black metallic with the saddle brown exclusive nappa leather, tech package, fanned aluminum wood trim, the burmeister 4D system and the 20 inch Y spoke wheels. Couldn't get the rear wheel steering on the luxury line.

The car was built in February 2021 and shipped in March and has been sifting at the VPC for months now. Nothing from the dealer, MBUSA, and no information when I called MBFS on my 2018 S560 4matic lease. No one knows anything. This blog has been helpful, but now I'm not sure I even want the car. The rollout and the lack of transparency has been a sh*t show on the part of Mercedes Benz for such an exclusive model and their loyal customer base.

I did speak with my dealer and they did say that MB will be offering a 3 year free maintenance program on these cars. But I'm still unsure at this point if I'm even going to take the car, so their could be at least one car for sale by the dealer in my area if anyone is interested. 😀

Just really uncertain at this point, but glad to hear everyone else's opinion about their experience on this blog.

Once final inspection is done the car is released to the trucking co. The initial loads will try to cover all dealers, After that it's just based on trucking logistics. Gonna be a busy couple of weeks for the trucks.

Free maintenance is only for those who had orders prior to Dec 31 and isn't transferrable. I realize that the wait hasn't been pleasant but there is no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Chip Not EPA or MB

it’s definitely been longer than normal for delivery. I’ve had MB since 2001 and this doesn’t feel like anything before has felt. It seems industry wide, not just MB, that almost all manufacturers have little to no inventory. The answer I’ve received from dealerships of MB Audi Porsche Bentley RR and Ferrari is something to do with a “chip”. Reality is nothing we do is going to change anything. MB had dates for me and no answers besides the chip. I actually decided since I’ve waited this long I’d just go ahead and change my order and wait a little longer and canceled the 580 and am now waiting for the S63. that is about 5-6 months AFTER the 580 and 500. Everyone realize the world was shut down for a while and we are seeing some of the results of that. I’m going to start looking for some 22’s lol why not? I’ve got nothing but time.

Yea it's the computer chips. I'm not going to get too much into it but the United States and possibly other countries dropped the ball on exporting labor to another country.

I don't know if they have been "sent out" but it does appear that they have been released to be delivered as my dealer finally shows five '21 S class cars in inventory as of this morning.

All I know is what my dealer told me, they have released a certain number of S Class cars (to their dealership) to a truck company, my guess it will start happening Monday 07/19, the release date.

Local dealers here are also showing 2021's in inventory with a status of "In Transit." Shouldn't be too long until they arrive.

Can anyone that may call their dealership tomorrow for their car update tell me what they say? My dealer told me two weeks or so a couple of days ago and I want to see if your dealer might have a different date in mind. At this point I don’t think my dealership has a clue.

Mailman still says 15 Aug. He knows as much as Mercedes.

I have an appointment to pick mine up in MD Saturday. Dealer asked if I wanted it sooner but because its going to be the first they're delivering it would take longer than usual. I told them I wouldn't have time until Saturday morning.

Got a call from my dealer this afternoon and he said that my car is designated “Priority 1”, but it is not yet in transit. I anticipate that it will be on a truck by the end of the week, but who knows!

Hello Max, does Netstar broadcast by VIN or P.O. sequence of car release or does my dealer just need to monitor my car movement on Netstar?

I believe MERCEDESMAX stated most ordered cars are Priority 1
