The more information we as buyers have the more power we have. THERE IS NO S-CLASS SHORTAGE. Each dealership I spoke to had multiple on the lot ane numerous at VPC or en route. Plently also had 2022's at VPC or being built without a customer's name attached to it.

Upcharge Wall of Shame:
Mercedes Benz of Massapequa
Benzel-Busch Mercedes
Silver Star Mercedes (+$15k lol)

At MSRP:
Mercedes-Benz Manhattan
Rallye Mercedes
White Plains Mercedes
MB Southampton (Purchased here; few grand off)

This list should have a little bit more details.
Eg When I google '' Silver Star Mercedes'', it turns out to be a dealer in India and another in Australia. Is it supposed to mean the dealer ''Silver Star Motors'' in Long Island City, NY ??
Anyway, in Manhattan area, is MB Manhattan the dealer to go to (both for sales and for service)?
Any alternative? How about Helms Bros?

My local dealership not only marks up their cars with side stickers of $20K+ up to $100K+, they also low-balled the value of my Mercedes trade-in by $20K! They wouldn't return my calls to negotiate, So I went to the nearby Audi dealership and only took a $5K hit on my trade-in. Even the BMW dealership stayed within $7K. I just decided on the Audi because I liked the ride and looks better. Seems the MB dealership just doesn't want my business and they have permanently lost me as a customer after 30 years of buying from them. I still have a Mercedes but I will go somewhere else for my service.

And this comes from someone who's had a decade-long relationship with my salesperson, who is a true gentleman. Despite this, I'd rather do all online and skip the dealership altogether. When my wife got her Tesla a couple of years ago, the whole purchasing experience was an eye-opener; why can't all makers be like that?
The way things are going, you might can have Amazon deliver your new car to you quicker than you can get home from work. Malls are dying and car dealerships are going to be in a pinch over the next few years. I've even heard the idea that a majority of people in the future won't even buy cars but will have them beckoned to pick you up and take you to wherever you want to go. No car payment, no car insurance, no maintenance, no garage space to worry about.....who knows?

my experience at MB Manhattan was definitely not at MSRP.
the rep there was very forward with me about upcharging me 10k cuz she felt the car was in very high demand.
fair enough...which is why i kept on with my guy at Greenwich (for those outside of the NE area in the US...that's in Connecticut).
ordered my car from him back in Jan/Feb...went back/forth numerous times due to sudden deletes on features....so we had to resubmit order a few times.
finally picked it up yesterday...on a rather unceremoniously rainy day.
but virtually all features ordered made it...minus the foot kick trunk opener, which would've been a nice convenience but i'll be fine using the keyfob.
selenite amg, black exclusive napa, 3D, rear steer, active ambient, warmth/comfort.

absolutely love it.
auto door handle open as it should.
as well as other thread i read about traffic light cam...if you want it turned off, you have to leave it "on", but within its setting switch to "on request".

I noticed at my dealer the S500s still have a $10k markup, but no markup on S580s

Maybe tied to the price of premium petrol. Lower demand for V8's?

When markets cool, they generally cool from the top down

A correcting stock market and increasing interest rates should mitigate the arrogance and high handed attitude of certain MB dealerships.

I've noticed most dealers in my area have more 500s on the lot than 580s. Last generation, the 450s were pretty rare compared to 560s.

I think it is because of the number of cylinders and horsepower ratings.

500 is a six.

I edited my post after making that discovery. Google made a mistake in one of its searches. Thanks for the correction. However, I still think maybe the horsepower rating may have a lot to do with it.

That could definitely be it. The 560 had 463hp. The 500 has 429hp. Very small difference.
