Prepaid Maintenance

I know that this topic has been covered before, but I can't find anything current. I am buying (versus lease) a 2022 S580. Does anyone have current costs for prepaid maintenance for 3 and 4 years? For anyone who has worked out the numbers, do you feel that prepaid maintenance is worth the cost? Thanks for the advice.

Perhaps the personal driving style/habit plays an important factor.
I see you are driving a 2018 S450. As it is a S-class and is just about 3-4 years old, maybe you add up all the maintenance bills in the past 3-4 years and see if the total costs significantly higher or lower than an offered plan?

My current S class is a lease and I did purchase the prepaid maintenance on that car. I drive very few miles. My current car only has 25,000 miles on it in the 4 years. I had a 2021 on order at the end of my lease in 11/2020, and I cancelled it when it came in and ordered the 2022. I will only drive 2500 to 3000 miles each year. I could take Uber for a fraction of the cost of buying a 2022, but "I want a new car." The 2022 I will buy rather than lease. The variable that is hard to plan for is the increase in cost over 2-4 years for on demand maintenance. The other issue is how much is my dealer marking up the prepaid maintenance and could I buy it cheaper at some other dealer. I thought if I had an idea of what a few people were paying during the past 6 months, I would know if the dealer is gouging me or giving me a reasonable price for the prepaid.

Thanks for the reply. I think your numbers are for an extended warranty. I was looking at the prepaid maintenance cost.

To me i do not think the maintenance plan is a big savings vs pay as you go. I guess it would depend on your vehicles mileage at the time of considering to purchase. If one of the bigger service intervals will occur during your time of the plan it may break even. But for me, at 10k miles per year, i only average about 5-7k miles per year. A services are around 220, and B service is around 600. Where i live. So if i do a A,B,A i am no where near the price of the maintenance plan.

again, if i am closer to 60k or 90k, or will cross thats mileage during the plan, it may help a little as those mileage services are a little more because they change spark plus, other fluids, etc.

just my take.

For a low mileage driver like you and myself, annual mileage is not the determining factor but the time is.
I reckon, MB recommends (for modern vehicles like the W223), service A is be done after 12-month from day 1, then service B after another 12-month and then service A again after another 12-month.
So, for a new car, there is going to be an A-B-A general maintenance services for the first 36-month period.

For my local MB authorized dealer, they offer Prepaid Maintenance Plan (2A+1B. They also offer 1A+2B as well) at a 15% discount off the total cost of two A services and one B service. Quite fair, straightforward and attractive.
It is interesting to see how MB authorized dealers in various regions and countries do their services.
