The difference between Burmester 3D and 4D is huge. If you are used to 4D and you listen to music a lot it will be a downgrade.
If you aren't used to the 4D, then the 3D is pretty good. I got downgraded recently when I switched to the EQS (no 4D option available) from the Panamera which has the high-end 4D equivalent Burmester. I do miss the fidelity and detail, but I can live with it since I mostly listen to Podcasts.

I’d have to disagree. I had the 3D in my 2020 S560 and it was great. In my 2022 S580 I have the 4D and the only difference I can find is the seat bass effects, which I find annoying and don’t use. To me, both systems are truly wonderful and well worth the option prices.

I believe aside from seat effects, 4D is 31 speakers 1750 watts; 3D is 16 speakers 760 watts.

Interesting. I’m sure it has a lot to do with listening preferences. I don’t notice any difference, but then I tend to keep the volume low, usually listening to classical or jazz.
