While the official unveiling of the new 7-Series and electric i7 isn't until tomorrow, a bunch of images have leaked, practically showing off most aspects of the design. Thoughts?

Grill reminds me of that Guild Navigator's mouth in the fish tank in the first Dune movie. Yeah this dates me, so what?

So basically just the X7 facelift but lowered and shrunken down or it might be the other way around as in the X7 facelift got the design from this new gen 7 series.

Just as the Audi, grille is too big. BMW continues to have 'kidney problem'.

One new feature is the separation of the headlights into two. The DRLs now are distinct from the regular headlights. Will have to see more if this design is too gimmicky or actually useful practically.

Too many german broads
They are both ugly. Goodbye to beautiful and timeless German luxury sedans of the past, the golden ages of design are over.

The huge backseat screen (when lowered) is going to block the rear view mirror. This could be in the W224 (or maybe even in the W223 facelift?).
Will be interesting to see the solution.

No more MB:(
This is a mess.

I can honestly say that I have not seen anything out of Germany in the luxury car segment that sings to me. Everything seems like a compromise, who in the world are these designers? MB and BMW design language has really taken a nosedive. Instead of modern and timeless we get "trendy and techy". No longer a competition for the most attractive and stylish but a race to the bottom. "Buy the car that offends you the least".

Bentley anyone?

2022 S580
I am so grateful to have my understated and timeless S580. The new 7 series (from the pictures) looks like like a vulgar behemoth. Who is this market that they are trying to appeal to??

I kind of like the chisel look of the exterior though its a bit bland in those trim. Could be even better with m sport trim we will see. But that interior is wow, I love the look of the buttons and more higher quality materials they are using vs the older 7. The S580 is still amazing and timeless. I know the S will age very nicely compared to this.

I don't hate the interior. The exterior that has the non-Darth Vader front end looks decent excepting the butt cheeks grille. Almost Rolls-esque in an odd sort of way.

Agreed, I had a moment of pause when getting my S580 to wait for the new 7er but I am glad I didn’t. Even the interior is not convincing me. People may complain about the S-Class’ touchscreen, but BMW copied everything and also has tons of haptic controls, but worse, all the climate controls (including seat heaters and coolers) are always hidden and behind a menu, unlike the S. A flagship should be elegant and timeless, not a monstrosity.

It looks the front end and the rest of the car were designed by 2 different people. The tech looks great though.

Saw this in my mailbox and was shocked by the design. Wrong on so many levels...

But there are a number of interior features that I like but they are packaged in an odd way. Don't understand why BMW can't design a good looking sedan anymore. The boxy look works for RR but not BMW
