The main advantage of a multipiece wheel is being able to only replace the barrel instead of the whole wheel if they were to get damaged.
Here is an example of what our 2pc Forged wheels look like
Image Shows NES Forged 2pc model SS-1T Floating center / exposed hardware and polish lip.
you can choose your own color, center design, exposed or hidden hardware, barrel colors etc
this one is actually a 20x10 /21x12 for a Corvette client

With some very thick tires you "might" be able to get better mileage out of those 22s without blowouts. But you will "certainly" still be compromising ride comfort and lose access to 10° rear steering, if your car is equipped with that.

When I ordered the car, if I got the 21's, it said it would retain some of the rear steering, just not as much if I had the 20's
I have tried swapping out the stock P-Zeros with Michelin PS4Ss, which had thicker sidewalls, so theoretically more impact resistant. No use. Still blew two tires when I first encountered a reasonably large pothole.
I have since sold my 21s and moved on to 19s
everything is much improved
Increasing the wheel diameter while maintaining a fixed overall diameter reduces the sidewall thickness of the tire. The tire is one of the components absorbing those vertical forces. Everything it does not absorb is transferred through the wheel into the suspension system proper. The long and the short of it is that the force transferred through the wheel must be less than the force over time which will damage the wheel. In general less sidewall means more force applied to the wheel and the force is applied more quickly over time.
It isn't possible to entirely get around the problem with better wheels and tires, the currently available technology can be overcome given enough force applied more quickly than can be absorbed by the tire
