I would say the ride is smoother and i do like the tech . The lwb might be noticeably different in the way it drives or feels but as I have stated I have not driven the lwb. For me the swb is perfect. It seems like a larger e class with the S class features and I would be sruggling to get the lwb in my garage with enough room to walk around it without opening the garage door.As i have stated in another post sadly for 2023 Canada will not be importing the swb and so it will be as in the USA the S500 and the S580 both in the lwb version . I have had my car since May of 2022 and have only had a rear seat passenger on 2 occasions.
I have always had frequent rear seat passengers, thus my needing a long wheelbase version. If this were not so, I would go in your opposite direction! I would not only downsize to a SWB S-Class (assuming it is available locally), I would even consider going down in size to an E-Class. The last E-Class that I had owned is a W124 300E and still have fond memory. As I said in another post, the current C-Class is bigger than the W124!

Count me in as well.
I quite like the design, dimensions and the appearance of the GLC. One aspect that gets a lot of points from me is that it is built in Germany, unlike the bigger brothers which are from the Alabama factory.

My friends wife has one. Nice quiet car that rides well and feels well planted. I think that it has received good marks from Consumer Reports for these qualities as well.

Yeah, they really are. I was surprised that the lower doors and lower dash are soft touch plastic where on the GLE and GLS they are hard cheap plastic...

Even the 4 cyl seems well suited to the vehicle, and geared well...

Liking small cars is totally legitimate. I wouldn't say you are part of the minority, likely among S Class owners but not car drivers in general. If you like driving an S Class...you like driving a big car. They drive like a big car.

My wife much prefers driving small cars...she hates having to drive a big family car. Me, I would never buy anything under 195 inches long.
Ah I see, ya I guess we are all unique after all each and every one of us have specific preferences.

There was a new kid on the block as you all know the GLB that is more popular from what I seen in Canada but that was probably mainly because it is the new thing, also it has third row seat although not exactly usable, I guess other than being a new thing from MB, maybe people also like the ambient lighting and interior compared to the aging GLC interior which is still a very nice design (I am biased), people also like the boxy look of the GLB, they call it the mini G-wagen, I don't see the resemblance though. I personally still prefer the GLC but I really am not an SUV person.

The GLB is garbage IMO, FWD, just not a real Mercedes. I like the looks of the new GLC, if it drives as well as the outgoing one I would be a fan of that too

I didn’t know Mercedes still made a “standard” wheelbase S class. I assume that’s a Canadian thing only? I know BMW and I think Lexus used to make standard and long but everyone seems to be shedding the standard.

Can you post some pics of the car and back seat area? I’m really curious. Thanks.

In the upper right hand corner, there is a grey colour ''Threads'' with a downward triangle.
Click that and choose ''Advanced''.
The pic below shows what comes up.
I type in your Username and ''daily driver'' as Key Words into the search fields.
And viola!
Once the thread comes up, use Copy & Paste to move the link into the post.

That’s not bad. That’s still a lot of rear seat legroom. What floor mats are those if I may ask?

thanks Bishop much appreciated. One other question and that is how do you circle a member's name to say something about a post or comment that the member made...actually I think you might have done that re my username in this thread a page or so ago about SWB S class

they are called coco mats based out of the USA...I had similar ones in my previous e class wagon. They are very durable and do not show the dirt. In the winter season I have the mercedes rubber ones in the front but will soon put my coco mats back in ...google coco mats and you will see their products...it is a very good company to order from and to communicate with
I have stated previously that the SWB was available in Canada in 2021 and 2022 but in 2023 both the s 500 and the s 580 are the LWB versions. I believe that is a shame but most s classes here in Canada that are being sold are the LWB ones so that obviously dictates what MB will send to Canada

AMG GTC Roadster, E63s Ed.1, M8 Comp. Coupe
FWIW we have driven plenty of W222 SWB S-Class models and owned a LWB S-Class and the driving experience and ride quality was more or less identical. SWB models were more common in Europe and the bigger difference was more in the tire selection. Admittedly I don't care for the look of the SWB models.
My wife was eager to drive a smaller and more nimble cars and preferred the SL and we moved on to the E63s. Even in the more expensive trim it didn't provide the interior luxury of the S-Class but we decided (for the time being) that either coupes or smaller high performance cars will be our choice forward...

Still loved driving our S-Class models; we had every S-Class model all the way back to a W116 beater, which we restored...

To do that, simply typing someone's Username beginning with the symbol @.
If you remember the entire Username correctly, that is fine.
If you cannot remember the entire Username, the site system will show you a list to help out.
eg @martinlarose

Same here except the part that we did not restore but regretfully sold the W116 when we moved into the W126 era. We should have kept it in hindsight.

Anyway, would you mind posting some pics of your W116? Would love to see a W116, especially a restored one.
Please. Thank you. @Wolfman
