W223 S Class
S class lease

I signed a 60 month lease for my S500. 2022. Looking to get out of the lease but has been very had as Mercedes doesn’t want to transfer it to anyone and wants me to buy out the car. Current value is only 67k with how bad the s class has depreciated. Any one have recommendations?

No more MB:(
Anyway you look at it you’re going to have to pay to get out. I don’t think mercedes allows lease transfers anymore. I have no ideas what S class values are doing but they are notorious for steep depreciation. 67K seems low but what do I know. The 5 year lease is a killer. Good luck

Sorry, but you can learn from this lesson. Never finance high maintaince depreciating assets, and leasing is even worse from an economic standpoint.

OP can you at least tell us what you hate about it? To see if there is anything at all forum members with the same car has that found solution to the problem, of which can fix yours completely or at least mitigate the problem? Is it a software issue, comfort issue, hardware issue, electronic issue, etc.?

How much negative equity (or otherwise upside down on the lease currently?)

Too late now but I would normally advise no lease over 36 months. After that a purchase makes more sense as the lease benefits and restrictions make it much more unattractive.
Several manufacturers used COVID to stop lease transfer agreements and said that they'll resume eventually. In the case of MBFS that means not at all.

So you are out the full amount of your pay-off quote minus the ACV of the car. Residual doesn't matter. Or pre-pay all outstanding payments. Since you don't get the car, that might be the worse option.

The only thing you can try is to get favorable terms while getting another MB.

Your other option is to ask an independent auto dealer what they would give you for it. You will still have to come up with some $ but perhaps not as much as your current residual. Don’t try CarMax their bids are always very low.
The independent dealer I used simply had me walk around the car with the phone on FaceTime and told me what he wanted me to show him. Very easy with no commitment. I didn’t take his first offer, I waited a week and he came back with a higher offer which i took. They do all paperwork with MB,

MBFS won't accept a dealer payoff from a non Mercedes dealer. The higher customer payoff will have to be used.

If MB won't take a payoff from a non Mercedes dealer, then that must be recent. MB took the payoff for my 2018 S 560 in 2021.

I called the dealer I used and asked if he was still able to buy a MB lease and he said yes, nothing has changed.
If you live in So Cal send me a PM and I will give you their phone number. There is no commitment when asking how much they will offer.
