BMW includes the home charger at no charge. Then, they are offering a $2,000.00 credit towards having their contractor do the installation, but I’m skeptical of it. Our main panel is just outside our garage and I think my electrician can do it for a few hundred, but I’ll want the pipe concealed in the wall, which will be an additional cost. Anyway, we’ll see. It’s not a big deal.

Yes, that’s what I meant. I already have the charger, but their contractors do not offer services in so many areas. When BMW contractor doesn’t offer the service, they refuse to honor the credit for other contractors of my choice and that’s what happened in my case. Anyway it ended up costing me around $500 with a local company. The project cost is highly dependent on the distance between your panel and where you want your charging point (materials and cables alone can easily exceed couple 100s for a level 2 charging speed). If I wanted the charger next to my panel, it would have probably been even cheaper.

Just a quick note that this thread has come to an end.

If anyone has a great interest in the i7 I suggest to hop over to Bimmerpost or other BMW forums. In case anyone forgot, this is a Mercedes W223 forum and used to discuss that particular model.
I am sure that Streamliner can report back here specifically to compare his new i7 to the prior W223.

Thanks
