Congratulations! I do love how the new 7 looks in the proper trim. Here is one with the dual paint which I am not a fan of but I love the shape and the rims.

No, if you want to get everything but the rear screen you can do that with the 50, cant with the 60, I spend lots of time in configurators and just checked to see if it's changed. It hasn't; get the rear luxury or whatever they call it and you get the screen with the 60. In fact just grab the fancy white interior and you get the kitchen sink. With the 50 you can get the goods without it and it's a 4k option broken out separately.

Congrats Streamliner. You are going to love this car.

Here is the Oxide Gray on top. It's a very pretty color but the Silvers are also very nice with BMW. I think you will find the paint job will be superior to your prior cars.

You can’t get the luxury rear seating package on the 60, so you can’t get the lounge seating etc. You can buy the screen as an ala carte option on either the 50 or 60.

Has BMW gotten reliable? They're increasingly appearing at the top of charts. Maybe their collaboration with Toyota is paying off.

Sure you can, 7250 and you've got executive lounge seating on the 60 and it includes the screen. Select the cashmere alone and your car is over 150 in one click because it throws everything in just as I said. That does remind me though; with the 50 you can also skip the recliners but still get the luxury seating package with the ventilation, heating and massage. The only real downside to optioning the 50 (to me) is that you cant get the cashmere.

I know that you take good care of your cars. Would encourage you care for the battery as part of that, which means in general limiting the charge between 80 and 20 % and ideally keeping it near 40-50 % for your daily commuting and minimize the amount of DC fast charging that you do.

Congrats, Stream...I looked at the new 7 before I went with the S - I just couldn't get past the ugly front end, wheels, and the bloated trunk look. Best wishes with the new ride.

Looking: S450/S560 2018-2020
That's actually very sad to hear...

Mercedes really needs to step up and address all of their quality control concerns.

The new S-Class, looks-wise, has grown on me.

The same cannot be said for the new 7-Series - to me it looks like a modern-day Batmobile from the outside; and like a discotheque on the inside.

For those who can get by the looks - I am sure it's a nice car.

BMW
I've seen this model in pictures many times and didn't get all the enthusiasm about it. Those newly designed grille looks way too wide. Well, those were my thoughts until I saw it in real life. This car looks spectacular.

Honestly, for a regular production, non-exotic, luxury sedan, NOTHING could be worse than the 2022 S580 I had. I must say that much of this was due to the dealer "shining me on" so much of the time. I would tell them about issues, show them videos of the issues and they would tell me the car was "operating as designed" and give it back to me. That's why I am thrilled with having the BMW dealer within easy walking distance from my office.

I "grew up" on MBWORLD.org, following your W222 very special order car, so many years ago. I highly value your opinion and don't think it has not been in the back of my mind ever since you proclaimed your new 7 as being spectacular. So glad you still feel the same way.

Right. $7,250 and you have executive lounge seating on the 60 that includes the screen. There is no executive lounge seating package on the 50. You can buy the screen separately on either the 50 or 60 for $4,700.

You can get the rear luxury package on the 50 or 60 which includes the ventilation heating and massage for $1,500. the lounge seating is an additional option on the 60 that isn't available on the 50.

I have no interest in the cashmere so thats not a factor for me

BMW has been reliable since the mid-2000 teens.

Best in class four cylinder
Arguably best in class inline six cylinder
Reasonable V8
Best in class ZF8HP transmission
Well-liked tech UI

Lots to like about BMW these days.

Interesting. To me that's when BMW nosedived. To me, they peaked in the late 90s early 00's with the E46, E39, and E38. After that it's been a ****show, but more recent JD power reliability reports and others show BMW up there with the Japanese, which is unheard of. My local Mercedes dealership lot is overflowing with cars, the BMW one next to it is barren. Nobody's buying the Mercedes, but it could be poor dealer management.

No argument from me. The 3.0L is the best I6 on the market. I just prefer it in non-BMW vehicles like Toyota's GR Supra or the Ineos Grenadier.

It’s because of poor lease support from Mercedes. Their leases have gotten really bad, I was talking to my MB salesman about it. BMW has a huge lease rate and incentive advantage right now.

Right now to lease a 760 is like $1,000 a month less than a similar MSRP S580, S Class lease doesn’t even make sense vs buying. It’s like that all over their lineup.

Well......

Not to be too picky, but there are two transmissions in the i7. Two single-speed transmissions, one at each axle.

There are even drain and fill plugs for you to DIY the oil change!

He meant no crappy shifting characteristics. Unfortunately Porsche saw fit to incorporate a 2 speed.

How does that even happen? I have no insight into the banking industry, or whoever underwrites these leases.
