I don't think it has anything to do with regen...it seems to be with the Distronic stuff on the heads-up display, so perhaps it has something to do with that? Here's a better picture. Since it is green in color, it can't be a warning...but more of an indicator. This picture looks like a car on a flatbed! LOL!

The photo is indeed showing DISTRONIC. Try selecting the car lengths (one, two, three, four) and see if you get the lines below the car icon.

I just checked my HUD when I had Distronic active and I was following a car in front. I did not get this car icon but instead the HUD was showing a green arc (a bit like the white line in the photo above) at the rear of the car in front. I cannot remember if I've seen the car icon, the manual does not seem to describe it.
ECO assist throws a similar icon on the instrument cluster ("vehicle in front"), perhaps HUD shows it too?

The icon stays the same regardless of the DISTRONIC distance between vehicles setting...no change. The icon only comes on once I get relatively close to the vehicle infront of me, and then shuts off as I get close to that vehicle and come to a stop.

So that is the traffic ahead symbol then (forgot what Mercedes' term was called)?
