I grew to really like the white. Its bright and stands out. It was between two identical MSRP cars, one the new moonlight white which is brighter than my diamond white which I really like and this car. The white one though didnt have exclusive nappa, instead you were paying for the $1,700 white and the $1,500 20" wheels in the same MSRP. Ultimately what steered me to this car was the exclusive nappa which I always wished my S560 had. Its unusual to find a car that has exclusive nappa but no 3D gauges and HUD and rear wheel steer etc. I actively dont like the huge hole in the dash for the HUD, and while I like the 4 wheel steer I have been driving big cars like this for so long it doesn't bother me. This is the car from the dealer site:

I know right? Good taste lol.
I really went back and forth. The big downside to the i7 was just traveling in it, I travel in my car several times a year and the infrastructure just isn't there yet. 760 vs S580 I prefer the ride and drive of the S580, so if it was a 7 it would have to be an i7. On top of that, there is just something about the S Class I wasn't ready to give up yet. I prefer the more conventional styling, although I like the new 7 also. This one has exclusive nappa so that will help bridge the interior difference. I love looking down the hood at the three pointed star...
Leasewise I am paying $300 a month or so more than I would have for an i7. I also prefer to do a deal on a car I can get now vs waiting for an order. This is by far the best deal I have been presented for an S580 in the months I have been shopping and looking, and the only thing I would have spec'ed differently on this one is it has no spoiler (easy to fix) and I would have gotten the 20" multipsoke wheels, this has the 19" 5 stars.
This will undoubtedly be my last ICE car though. In 3 years I am very confident travel in an EV will be no big deal.

For the i7, I told you man, that range is a joke, and from experience, not YouTube, I know that out of that 320 miles range they claim, in most cases on a highway you are not going to get more than 200 miles of "usable" range and am not exaggerating. And even if they get access to Tesla chargers, that range is still useless at least to me. I'll avoid explaining what "usable" means as it won't matter now, but really I've always believed that the i7 range is a joke, that range is useless to me literally.. Being in a cold climate zone too, that car won't serve me at all during harsh winter months with the severe range drop.
Well, let's hope that the next S-class generation will be a true fully electrified EV... the i7 design isn't going the direction that I was hopping to see and I doubt even the LCI would fix the design (as for range, it'd still be in the 350sh range which is very marginal if not too low already). 500 EPA miles EV range is what I think could replace a 350 miles ICE car, and 400 EPA EV range is my absolute minimum threshold before it's becomes a hassle on highways.

The range isn’t so much the issue, I have no problem stopping for 25 min to charge, it’s just having reliable options for stopping that’s the issue.
On my way to go get it now. Will post a thread!

These are still complete speculation. I even think this is a more extreme makeover then we'll actually see.

It’s so tacky and flies in the face of what the S Class stands for imo. The S Class is about understated luxury without being overly pretentious. These lights do not fit that category.
I don’t like either of the lights, but the taillights look worse to me. Weird DRL is par for the course these days but those taillights look unnatural and messy to my eyes and like it’s trying way too hard.

I don’t see how that rendering (front end specifically) can be even close to how the LCI front end will look like. The taillights rendering is reasonable and that’s how I’d expect, but whoever did the front-end rendering did a very bad job. It can’t be true.
I love the tailight and rear-end design of the current W223 as is and hope they won’t make any major changes (though that was the first thing I disliked when it was revealed years ago). I think the front end can take some improvements (perhaps sharper headlights, though Mbenz mostly only change the interior design of tail/headlights but not the overall dimensions/geometry).

Sadly, I do think they will mess with the taillights, and put something similar to the W214 there will probably be one star additional on each taillight assembly but the overall stars are smaller (there are spy shots with the outline of that taillight if I recalled correctly), they will indeed put a few stars in the headlights as well as shown in OP's first image, the rest stays the same. There will people who like it, doesn't care and still buy it. Though : (

I don't think the "starts" belong to the S-class - they are just too flashy for a car like this. I think they'll match what they did to the GLS, mostly three dash-like LEDs though I prefer the pre-lci LEDs. Anyway even the stars design in the E-class isn't horrible. The rear-end of the W223 looks great - the profile is low, and wide and that's what matters.
Will be curious what they do with the Mythos SL.

You're right, I just checked again and saw it also for the front headlights. It looks way too odd... Fine with tailights and the star design, but it's a bit too much for the front headlights. Anyway I look forward to seeing the full reveal. I don't think it will be that controversial.
