Powder coat wheels?
Has anyone powder coated their S class wheels black? Share pics please as I am contemplating but having a hard to picturing the look

I personally wouldn’t powder coat wheels. It can weaken the alloy and lead to wheel cracks.

I've probably had 5 sets of wheels powder coated and never had any issues. In fact, there are wheels that come from the factory powder coated.

An OEM who powder coats their wheels can precisely control the heat curing without annealing the Aluminum. Trusting your very expensive wheel to some random shop runs the risk that whoever controls that oven may or may not hit that annealing temp, whether on purpose through ignorance or on accident through minimum wage stupidity. Aluminum anneals at a very low temp. Just paint them.

My understanding of powder coating is that the target to be coated, is electrified, opposite the charge of the coat. That way, the powder more strongly attaches. The target to be coated may warm up somewhat during the process, but nowhere near what it would take to lessen the integrity of the material.
