Ditched the crappy black plastic on the console for a beige leather stick-on overlay cover from fleaBay. Color is close enough and should darken a bit with age in that area.

EZ On-Off if you remove some of the double stick tape to a minimum. There may be other colors and patterns available. Thank you China !

That's what's great about the over-lays...reversible. I liked the black plastic until I didn't. Thanks for the reply.

Now I still really like our W222 & A238 black center consoles because they are piano black lacquered wood to match the piano black lacquered wood trim with flowing lines on the dashes. They have a slightly different look with some "depth" to the finish if I had to describe it.

 

I have also gone back and forth on this. I think the "stick on" look with the shiny black coming through the edges would bother me. I have considered having the actual parts wrapped in leather by an upholsterer...

 

Yep, same here.
Main reason I decided not to get these.
I just have a soft cloth wipe in my center console and wipe down the piano black surface every few drives.

 

I have also considered trying to find the OEM "dotted lines" console top and lid top...

 

Huh? Is this a different type of console/trim for the W223?
I don't think I've ever seen anything else other than the stock piano black console.

 

Yeah there were 3 options and they dropped the dotted lines for 25. Almost all of them just have the piano black console top. Impossible to even find a picture of the other trims

 

Oh wow, I didn't know that.
It was not until spring of '25 that I even considered getting an S class, so I wasn't aware there were multiple options pre-'25.

 

I like it with the black showing the contrast looks 3-d like the steering wheel!!!
