Liqui Moly Jectron/Top Tier Fuel

Just curious if anyone uses or has used Liqui Moly Jectron--or any other fuel injector/treatment/fuel type additive and what you think about it. I bought a 6-pack of the Liqui Moly Jectron on sale ($7/bottle) and it seems to have made a difference after just the first treatment. I added one bottle and then filled the tank to about 3/4...and did some "spirited driving" when possible, running the tank down pretty low. Seems like the engine is running a bit smoother, getting 10% better fuel economy, even smoother acceleration. Of course, I tend to have a vivid imagination, so maybe some of you guys can share your experience and set me straight if needed.

NOTE: I do NOT use top-tier fuel...I get the 93 octane of course, but my local Gulf gas station is about $1/gallon cheaper than the crooks that sell top-tier fuel. So, if anyone has opinions on that as well, please chime in!

P.S. My car was up on a lift the other day and I took a look inside the exhaust pipes...wow, were they clean. I ran my finger around the inside of the pipes and came up with nothing. They're bright and shiny.

I am a COSTCO member and they have the best price on premium 93 where I live and all of their fuel is "Top Tier" certified FWIW

It was suggested to me to put in a Techron and two Seafoams...I did notice that my wallet was lighter. No other effects...maybe the LiquiMoly has a better recipie. Or, could be the "tune up" of the spirited driving?

I only burn Costco fuel in my car as it sounds like @Sparky66 may as well. They are considerably cheaper than competitors and their fuel is top-notch. If you have a Costco in your city and it isn't too inconvenient to drive there to fill up, then I'd suggest you give it a shot and see how it compares to the Moly additive.

I was going to suggest Sam's club as an alternative, but this website states that Sam's gas is not Top Tier Who has better gas between Costco and Sam's Club?

Here's a link stating that Costco gas is as good as Exxon, Shell and others.

Is Costco Gas Quality the Same as Exxon, Shell and Chevron? - SavingAdvice.com Blog

Is Costco Gas As Good As the Competitors?

So, Costco meets the minimum requirements set by the EPA, but it also meets more stringent components set by the automaking industry.

A number of automakers made the decision that the U.S. government additive requirement wasn’t high enough for many cars. As a result, they developed a “Top Tier” standard. In order to meet the “Top Tier” designation, the fuel sold at the gas station must meet additive requirements higher than required by the U.S. government, here. Costco fuel meets this top-tier standard.

The main problem of costco fuel is possibly the lineups, for those that turn off auto start/stop and just keep the engine running, you will waste more fuel than the amount saving say going to shell or others.

Just keep in mind even costco uses different refineries depending on where the forum member reside, some are worse than others, this dependency might have to do with which state as well.

not entirely sure why OP doesn't want to use top tier (unless 93 isn't offered in top tier anywhere) since top tier has the additives MB prefers and that MB recommends.

I did some math some time ago and for the number of miles I drive the cost of membership exceeded the savings at the pump. Currently in my area Walmart is .10 cheaper for premium than both Costco and Sam's Club and no membership needed. I have no idea if the gas at Walmart is top tier. I would doubt it.

I would assume that WalMart and Sams use the same fuel....but, who knows.

I noticed the same with Jetron. I put it in occasionally. I use top tier mainly.

I think you’re fine with what you use, if you experience knocking or other issues then change. Otherwise those additives are a waste of money.
