RENNtech S65 dragstrip video

Ben was running 11.2s consistently all night, I suspect he is a good launch with good weather away from a 10.99 in his SL65
Hey believe me I was thrilled to see both of you running 11.20's. I would love to see one of these cars run in the 10's without NOS.
That would incredible to see the S-class dip into the 10's =)
btw, are there any other videos from that night? Highway runs particularly

thanks

I also put a set of sticky tires on it.
I have plenty more pictures from my short stay in California last week online at

There are also videos of the S65vs the new Porsche Carrera GT from a roll on the freeway.
Stock it dynoed at 542 RWHP:

After the renntech mods it made 610 RWHP

My old 2003 S600 with the renntech mods ran a best time of 11.5 making 525 RWHP.
Congrats on the results and the nerve.
The chip made the car slightly jerkier off idle, but all in all the car is still wonderfully smooth and powerful. All in all, I don't think there is another car in the world that I would rather use for a daily driver.
The C55 is a fun car but I'm so itching to get the beast back.
Someone pointed out to me that Chip Ganassi is quoted in Autoweek as saying of his W221 S65: "This thing is so strong it'll qualify for Daytona with the air conditioning on."
I have to say the Renntech mods are worth every penny.
Also if you have a local gas station that sells 100 octane, put a tank of that in and drive it around. It makes a HUGE difference as well.
The computer compensates right away.
Also, to be fair to MB, in my 03 S600 that ran a best of 11.5, (with the renntech chip) when the transmission had a very very slight error code that they could not diagnose, they put in a %100 brand new transmission in the car at around 28K miles. No questions asked, and didn't charge me one cent for it.
I'm a happy MB customer and I think I will be for years to come.
Here is the time slip from the pass:

If I had gotten a better launch, I think an 11.1 or 11.0 would have easily been possible.
I also put a set of sticky tires on it.

would have been a blast if you have breaked the 11 sec barrier
Can you please tell me what tires were you running that night and the sizes thanks
I seem to recall them being 275/35/18
I installed the ECU and the airbox a few weeks apart.
The difference the ECU made was amazing and worth every penny.
The car runs fine on 91 octane, however it seems to pick up quite a bit of power on 100 octane.
For example, the day I ran the 11.29, the car was trapping about 112-114 MPH on 91 octane, then I added 5 gallons of the 104 octane sold at the track, and the air temperature dropped by about 20 degrees. Then the car began to trap 122 to 124 MPH.
What a difference good gas and cold air can make!
.)It makes a noticable difference throughout the range. Part-throttle response is improved (turbo lag is almost eliminated) and the pull at the top is clearly stronger.
I "met" a 996 TT on the way down and we had a ball on an open stretch of I-5. Neither of us would have had the nerve to spend so much time at 140 without the other one there.
At $5/gallon I suspect I will reserve it as a now-and-then treat, but 100 octane is as great for the open road in these cars as it is for the track.

Love it!
