2005 Volkswagen GLi 356fwhp, 2006 S55
s55 meets m6 last night!!
Im on federal making a right onto palmetto park rd. and right before i make the right there's two guys in a convert. black m6. They spot me making the right and they rev the sh** out of the motor. So i knew what was coming. I figured i pull him and he catch up. (4 people in my 55) i get next to him and right away he hits it(ricer lol), i flash my lights for him to get even with me and we both get the hit in 2nd.(the guy couldn't drive that smg if his life depended on it) Anyways we were in a low second gear roll so we still got to run all through second, from the hit in second i pulled a car and a half and held that spot. We went up to about 90 didnt wanna go to fast on palmetto.
I know right after around 130 that m6 would just open up like a bat out of hell. But i was all fun he kinda felt like s*** because we had 4 people in the car but we pulled over started talking about it and i asked him how he likes the car and he says he hates the thing (obviously because he doesnt know how to drive it) Like i said it was all fun and i know he was suprised of the 06 s55 because his face looked alittle like that
p.s sorry if the write up was too long just writing it as it went!!! lol

Well, you're right about one thing - he couldn't drive worth a crap cause the M6 will slaughter an S55.

it's not like it's an M6 vs. an S320 .. i'd take a better driver in an S55, they're still close enough for that .. he did say the guy couldn't handle the SMG. S55's aint no slouches, i know i'd take one!!

How could someone not know how to drive SMG? It's an automatic, all you have to do is step on gas as hard as you can and steer. Makes no sense to me.
Good win, the S55 is a very fast sedan, so don't underestimate it. But in reality the M6 is lighter, powerful and more agile, so it should have walked away.

We both went from a low second so I pulled him right from the hit with no problem. The smg when in the automatic setting sort of requires you to let off the gas for it to shift. But I've also heard that the car has to be on the right sensitivity for it to shift right, and don't sleep on the s55 the car moves like no sedan in its class. But long story short the guy was surprised and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes and purchases an amg next week. Lol he leaves the m6 down here and only drives it during the winter. I wonder what he drive up north??

Well, you have to put it in the right setting. When the car starts it is in "granny" mode and unless you change the settings (also the 500hp button) nothing will happen when you put your foot down.
And on that note, in the S55 all the passengers can opt to engage the ventilated seats and adjust the seats as they please while the driver writes a big 11 on the street.
An M6 is a very nice car. But the S55 has a lot going for it as well. At least mine does.

But while we're nit-picking, it isn't clutch-less, since it has an electrohydraulically operated clutch. It's just clutch-pedal-less

I drive an 2005 M3 with SMG, and unless something's changed in the new M6's SMG then I just want to clear something up. The SMG is both an automatic and 'clutchless' manual. The automatic mode is crap because, so I'm sure the person driving the M6 was using the manual mode. If using the manual mode you have to change gears, it will not change for you, therefore it can't be called an automatic in that mode. It is not as easy to drive as a proper automatic at all.

I too owned a 05 M3 w/ SMG. The SMG might be slightly harder to operate than an automatic, but it is by no means difficult. All you must do is select gear switch speeds and pull the right paddle (and of course push the gas pedal); if you think driving an SMG is hard, it would probably be wise to switch to a true automatic. In response to it being a driver’s race, I would disagree unless the M6 had a 6 speed. It doesn't take much driving skill at all to make these AMG's go fast in a straight line.

The guy gotta learn when driving his M6, he has to rev the crap out of his motor to get power, otherwise, it will drive like a normal 650i coupe/convertible.
