Purchase advice needed--'04 S55 CPO
White on Java, 32K miles, Parktronic, Keyless Go, Harmon-Kardon. CPO warranty until 2/24/09. Sales agent did not see Drive Dynamic seats listed, but MBUSA website states that these were standard; is this correct? Also, is H-K sound system an upgrade? MB website lists Bose as the standard system.
Dealer says MSRP was $116,975, is asking $67K.
Seems a little high to me, even with CPO adjustment. Opinions? What target price should I be looking at? I have not seen the car yet, so let's assume it is in excellent condition.

I bought mine for 69K with 28k miles. I purchased it May last year, the warranty was till 08. All options except distronic. With that said 67K from a dealer is fine because of their markup but I would not get it. I see lots of S55 going for low 60's high 50's. Just take a look at ebay. One word of advice is the warranty. Get one. The dealer repair bills are crazy. Good luck.

The H-K sound system is not an upgrade...it's basically the unit itself.
I believe the speakers are still bose.
From the list above; parktronic,and keyless go were options.
I just traded mine in with 17k miles and they gave me $64k for it.
Mine was about $122+ change new with every option except distronic and 4 seat option; black exterior /ash interior
Options available at the time were:
parktronic
rear side shade
keyless go
distronic
rear ventilated seats (heat/cool) seats with seat controls
4 zone climate control (temperature control in rear)
voice command (gives you a lever to pull for voice control)
integrated phone
I think that's it.

btw...you sure about java interior?
isn't that kind of like a coffee, brown color? yuck!
i don't think there's much demand for that color combination...and if that's something you like...you should definitely demand a better price.
based on demand...i think you'll have a harder time selling it if you choose to later.
imo...i think white with ash looks better.

Car was sold.
The car was sold before I could see it. Apparently the market here in Raleigh is stronger than I thought. White would not have been my first choice, anyway. I'll keep my eyes open for the next one.

I bought mine in Chicago late last year with 21K miles. I paid in the mid 50's for it. I'm in FL and saved 7-8K by buying up north. There are plenty of them out there as I still shop to see what's out there and what they're going for. Mine is desert silver with java. Not my first choice but for the price I was flexible on the color. My favorite is Alabaster White/Black which IS rare. Good luck on your search. They are GREAT automobiles.

It's the 04+ that are the 7 speed auto vs. 5 speed, big jump (from 03 to 04
).Can any previous owner tell if it's a noticeable difference?

No S55 has a 7-speed. '03 got the supercharged engine. '04 has a better (DVD) COMAND. It's better enough than the '03 CD-based COMAND to make it worth looking for an '04. Other than that '03-'06 is pretty much the same.

Today I picked up a Gray '04 S55/AMG from Houston, TX. Vehicle had 43K miles, all options except distronic....paid $47K; blue book is at about $54K. The vehicle just came off a lease...very clean vehicle. I'll post pictures soon or you can see it www.nxcessmotorcars.com
