Great News for Early S63's
I had my Comand Navi updated today by the dealer - software only NO hardware change.
You won't believe this - ALL the features "missing" are now there - full Nav (traffic, birds-eye etc), DVD video - not while in motion (audio continues video blank).
They installed the update disc for the Navi and had to version code the Comand unit.
The disc part # is BQ-6-46-0225 NTG 3 Versio
They charged me 199 for the disc and 89 for the install. I also now have the disc.
Also the Disc/Radio button now also toggles to include the MP3s on my SD card - for me that's great. I can go between the music display and the birds-eye with the push of a button
The display is slightly different. guess the new version. There may be more changes need to play.
A question for those with later 08's - does the Navi change routes based on traffic if set for fastest route ?

Real MB electronics experts have claimed that the early US models don't have the DVD video decoder HW. If the update activates DVD video on the latest US models, would the SW update then be incompatible with the earlier models? Hopefully at least they have a separate SW update for the early cars for the rest of the features if this one isn't compatible.

No dynamic option - however it seemed to alter my trip in to work this AM based on traffic - or so I think - it chose a parkway as opposed to a thruway (unlike it's routine - though I've never used it for this route before), I guess time will tell.

Is it a CD or a DL DVD? I was just wondering if it includes a map update. I've understood some update disks including both the map data and a navi program/comand update.

Geeeezz! You have to wonder about MB. My dealer contacted MB and was told (he read me the e-mail) that there would be no update available for the "early '08" cars.

copy of service ticket from repair/upgrade

can you post a copy of your service ticket so i can give it to my Dealer's shop forman. He wants to see the MB service line codes so he can upgrade mine. Or please provide a contact at your dealership.
They ordered the dvd for mine but it did not upgrade.

The service dpt also tried tried to update with the new disc today but the command unit would not take it. Thanks for your help.

Telemetric DVD Needed to upgrade cars
My care is done with the correct updates.
Your service department will need the new Telemetrics (Telematrics??) DVD to upgrade the core commande software to the unit. Once they do that you are good. THIS WILL UPGRADE ANY PREVIOUS COMMAND UNIT TO THE NEW SETTINGS. So if you have a '07 550 you can get it upgraded as well.

I had mine updated this afternoon. VERY cool! 
A few years ago, I had a 2002 Infiniti (now my son's car), which has "birds-eye view" navigation. Quite frankly, I think this is the best orientation for all navigation. I'm glad MB finally adopted it. I'm just surprised it took them so long.
While I seriously doubt I will ever watch a DVD in the car, I will certainly use the traffic information feature.

Had the S65 done as well today. I must have seen you pull up with your S63 because I was at Beshoff at 1:00 pm to get my done with kids in tow. Got out of there at ~ 2:30 today.
So quick question...tried the DVD and it says "Video fades while car is in motion" and a box with and X in it
I tried it with my car in the garage engine not running and engine running. Heard audio but no Video. It was the Monster Inc. DVD... my 7 year old's fav. I looked like a dummy since it didn't show him the Video. Am I doing something wrong?

And it was an area where you wouldn't want to be speeding. It was last week, I think monday between 10-3, I saw the silver S63 rolling on Main St past the Thruway Diner and the Home Depot. It looked beautiful.
