Zune or iPod connection

whats the best way to connect zune or ipod to the sound system of 2004
s55?
fm transmitters have terible sound quality.
i tried to do some search here i couldnt find out. Thank you

There's actually many post regarding this. You might have to broaden your search and not be too specific.

-There is an auxiliary jack in the glove box. Use a stereo wire/cable(good quality one).

-Read the manual on how to switch to auxiliary sound.

'04 S600

They put the Aux Jack in the glovebox of '04 up?? My '04 S600 doesn't have one (at least not that I've noticed!).....would it be covered up behind a cap?

Some of the newer 221s come with an media input in the glove box. I have a pre-delivery S63 and did not get the interface. If anyone has a Part # for it that would help. MB cant find anything on it.

If you have a tape player, use a tape adapter. Surprisingly, they sound excellent. $3.13 from monoprice.com:

I agree that FM transmitters suck and are way too expensive but if you don't have a tape player or Aux port you're probably out of luck unless you get an aftermarket install.

E55's 03 and early 04 don't have them. I have an 03 S55 and DO have one. I would assume 04 and up S55(S600's too) would have them since S classes are "more luxurious" and have more standard items that are options on other cars(xenon headlights, nav, rear shade, etc) if 04 and up E55's have them.

Its on the wall nearest to the nav/center console. Mine wasn't covered by a cap but it looks like it could. I found mine on accident too some months after I got the car.

2004 S55 AMG

On the 2004 s class there is no auxiliary jack in the glove box. The only way since there is no ipod kit for the car would be the denison gateway 500 for most. Below is the link to get one and DIY install from Slylaw. The writeup is long but every helpful. Hope this helps.

Agreed. I checked my '04 S600 and don't have one either. Talkin' about taking a step backwards in the technology department!!

Its crazy that an s class doesn't have a AUX port. Almost all the other models has the ipod kit. Go figure.

I'd trade my "over engineered" cup holder for an AUX jack anyday!! Probably cheaper for them to produce/install too!

2003 S55 Black/Black

Mine is an '03 and I have the jack in my glovebox. It is awesome. Better than the CD changer. (not used at all!) I can not believe that they wouldn't have them in later cars.
