Cool S55 Vs M5

Well I was on a 2 lane freeway me and my cousin, after coming out of the muffler shop, excited about the new sound, I was reving up my engine while he was behind me, next thing I see is an M5 next to me, he thought I was reving at him, which I probably would've if I saw him anyways. He looks at me and smiles, and gives me , so I did the same, then he gunned it for a sec, I did too, then we both rolled down our windows, he said slow down to about 50mph, I did, then he used his fingers to count from 1-3, then we both gun it, after I advanced, he flashed his lights honked his horn, I slowed down, he waived to me to wait, saying this part of the freeway had cops, so we drove for anothe mile, then we got ready, rolling at the same speed (50) then I said lets honk, instead of had signals, so no one could have an execuse, so he started the honking, on the third one I gunned it, and boy I took off, I mean I was getting away from him by the sec, I got about 3-4 cars on him, to about 150mph, then I tapped my brakes, and slowed down, so he comes flying by, not slowing down kind of pissed, so I floored it again and just about when I was gonna catch up with him, cars appeared, so I slowed down so did he, then he rolls down his window, and say nice car, pull over lets talk, me and my cousin both did, stopped at an exit near, he was actually a pretty cool guy. For once I was actually getting props on my heavy A$$ S55. I was juiced that I actually beat an M5, and I'm being polite.

How come you posted a hypothetical about this scenario on the SL thread?

Anyways, your car is fast but not M5 highway fast with a 114mph trap. They trap 116mph stock all day long. From 100mph-up they are ridiculously fast and will leave behind Gallardos and even P-car Turbos.

You had your cuz in the car with you too. No offence but you beat the other driver not his car.

With his mods he is faster than a stock M5.

I walked that M5 I was just being moderate, and if you read the post correctly my cousin was behind me in his own car.

You walked an M5 with a car that traps 114mph? I believe you and no offence intended but it was driver error that caused this.

Well, it's the result that counts right?

True, and that's why I'm not disputing the OP's claim. Just stepping in to take the heat off the M-bashing into which this thread has degenerated.

Ballzy congrats on the kill...was it a current 500hp E90 M5 or the prior version the E39 I think? Even if its the driver you beat thats all that matters...I am pretty sure other makes have trampled Merc's to due to driver also.

Looking at his ET of 12.18, I think the E39 M5 would get eaten alive.

As a driver of both an M (M3) and AMG product it's impossible to make a mistake with my 5-speed auto from a roll- just mash and go. Miss shifts are common with the speed the manual shift M3 and M5 gather its revs.

Ballsy55- I misread that you had your cousin with you but my question of why you posted a hypothetical about this same race on the SL thread remains unanswered??

ddtham- ET is of no importance in a rolling race on the fwy. Trap speed is what matters.

To stock E39 M5... Yep it would have gotten eaten alive...

However, the race was from 50mph roll... Thus 12.18 ET would not be an accurate benchmark...

at any rate... congrats to the OP for beating the other driver

I am aware of that, however I was referring to your comments of Ballzy's going against E39 M5. I've never seen any "stock" E39 M5 hit 12s.

Given that his trap speed of 114.xxx is low for his 12.18 run, the fastest stock E60 M5 (from Dragtimes) ran 12.3 with trap speed of 115.xxx. His "modded" S55 runs similar time with "stock" E60 M5, that anything can happen.

So, I don't see your justification on discrediting his stroy by asking if he beats E39 M5.

Even motor trend put the M5 through the 1/4 at 116.8 and they're not senna.

Newbs that come on here and talk big get called out. Just the way it is

You are still using 1/4 mile time as a benchmark... As I said, it is not an accurate benchmark in this case... You can get extremely different results racing off the line vs. from a roll...

And why are you saying that I was discrediting the OP's story... I simply trying to clarify if he was racing the E60 M5 which all of us were assuming at this point... he never said which M5 he beats... and I even congratulated the OP for winning the race... Please read my post carefully before you make any assumptions
