All I can say is thanks CPO warranty. My '06 S65 now has a new rear and a new driver's side axle. Just picked up the car yesterday and it is just like new again. Maybe I should retire from drag racing and just stick to some leisurely road course action.

Gald to hear its fixed under warrenty

PS: I have heard and seen WAY TOO many 600/65 breaking pinnion gears while using drag tires for me to EVER want to attempt it.

I'll stick to trap speed and give up the ET to you guys who do.

Drag radial breakage....and I wish I could report some awesome times to help soothe the pain of parts breakage. This breakage happened just after the burnout box after the tire caught on dry pavement. My other breakages with my S600 were always on the starting line or just after the start. It must have something to do with the extra weight of the S. I can't believe that this broke so easily this time. They also replaced the drivers axle as they said the boot appeared "knotted up". The passenger axle is still stock...haha. My best et was 11.61@123 with an awesome 1.95 60'. Track was wayyy slick and no one was hooking. They must be getting cheap with the VHT. My '09 Sierra wouldn't hook either and hooked worse after they used a hand sprayer to apply VHT at the starting line. I think that Jason had his sprayers confused and used plain water for the track....

Glad you have it all back together. I assume since you are running 123 you put a good tune in it.

Which DR's are you using? I sure wish someone would come out with some 19 inch DR's that fit our wheels.

Yeah...I went with Renntech again for the tune and Mickey Thompson for the drag radials. The size was 265/40-18 just like my S600 and I used the same wheels that I used on the S600.

Stephen

I have an 07 S65 that I plan to take to MIR 10/22. I have the same size MT drag radials. I have the stage 2 eurocharged/let tune. I don't think it is as wild as the 06 version but I only have 9k miles and under warranty for 5 more years. I don't want anything to break regardless of having a warranty. Would you opt for stock tries, MT setup w/o a burnout?

Great! You are finally going to run your S65. My 06 has a great tendency to thump and tire shake whereas the 03 s600 not so much. I would use the drag radials and be very conserative with a "clean off" type burn out and drive around the water for the first run. Launch at 1/2 throttle with a just over idle brake torque. You can gently squeeze more throttle as you feel the car hook up. If the track is prepped well you will be able to go to full throttle rather quickly. Experiment with heating the tires a little after the initial run. Maybe the w221 is a stronger setup out back. Good luck!

thanks Stephen for the suggestion, i will go with that. its strange that there are no ETs posted in dragtimes for the W221s...I guess no one drag races them. The car feels much slower than my old E55 but that was running 11.0s.

09 sierra is a 6.2 gas like a denali. It has 403hp stock. It ran 14.58 that day but has run 14.18@98 on a nice night. CPO is nice as the final tally of everything was $6200. I paid $129 for a front end alignment and that is it. Drag racing may have to wait for a different vehicle.
