I know this is unrelated, but I figured you'g be checking this thread. I'm trying to find out details for US 2004 S55 specs. When will Netstar be updated to show all correct info for 04? I ask because on my visit to my dealer yesterday, a check of Netstar seemed only to show 03 stuff. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeff,
I just checked in netstar and was able to bring up the "configure" list for '04 S55. I don't see or expect any changes ('03 was first year for the V8 Kompressor model). There where changes for '03 S class in general: i.e. the improved COMAND system, reconfigured dash switches, new seats, taillights and headlights etc. I don't see anything different in netstar for '04 (no sat radio for example)
Talk to your salesperson again, he should be able to bring up '04 specs and options under "configure".

Well I am not sure what the Uh-Oh is for, are you OK Adam?
You guys sure help to keep me on my game. I just spent some time in netstar trying to "confirm or deny" DVD nav for '04 S classes and I cannot. The '03s we are delivering definetly have CD nav systems, the screens are bigger and they will now play a Cd in the dash (in lieu of using the nav system at the same time).
I can not find any info from MB confirming DVD nav for the '04s.
The '04 DOG (dealer ordering guide) in netstar for the '04 Eclass lists DVD nav, the Ml500 had it for '03. There is no ordering guide availabe for '04 S class yet.
That being said: I have looked into the "locate" section of netstar in the '03 S class "pick menu" includes the "navigation CD collection" the pick menu for '04 S class Does Not have the nav CD collection. We can deduce from that '04 S cars wil have the DVD nav system. When I get "official word" about it I will post.
P.S. If you are looking at netstart again at your dealership: In the "configure screen" the nav disc collection is not listed for '03 or '04 but if he goes to the "locate screen" you will see the disc collection in the options for '03 but not in the options for '04s.

Thanks for the info and for the effort looking into this. In the age of the net, consumers havean amazing ability to gather info and even help salespeople stay current. I did some asking around to a number of sources and there was something else interesting I came across.
One of the board members here who posted in June about E-Class Nav and the lack of the Bird's eye view mode (as per his contact at MBUSA) responded to me. I sent him a message asking about DVD Nav availability for S class in 2004 and whether it was similar to the E DVD Nav. He messaged bvack saying that yes, S and CL Class vehicles will have DVD Nav for 2004. Additionally, and perhaps most sursprisingly to me, he said that the 3-D Bird's Eye View mode that was absent in the E-Class DVD Nav will be an available mode in the S and CL class DVD Nav systems!!! As we have heard before, this mode will not make it into the E until 2005. He didn't say why but, if I had to guess, they have an inventory buitl up for 1st gen DVD Nav systems for the E that they have to move before switching over.

I am in the process of buying an 03 S55. I was going to wait for an 04 but I am getting a better deal on the 03. I have been a BMW owner for the past 6 years with an M5 and a 7 sport. Hate the new 7s as for the reason for the switch to MB, the S55 is more refined than BMW IMO. According to my dealer the differance between the 03 and 04 S55 are
1. Adding 2 speakers to soundsystem
2. DVD Nav system
3. 7 speed transmission
4. tire pressure monitor standerd
about $1500 more on the sticker (a guess on his part)
The S55 that I am getting does not have the tire pressure monitor is this a mistake?
The equip on the one I am looking at is the phone, Nav disks, keyless go, shades. Is there anything else that I need?
